"great news sunoo!" doctor heeseung exclaimed, coming in the room with the result papers. "you're health's been doing great, you'll be able to stop the medication after a couple of months!"

"finally!" sunoo cheered. "will everything be back to normal then?"

"yup. just carry on with a healthy lifestyle and everything should be fine."

"so basically it's my life now but with no meds. good enough, i'll take that."

heeseung laughed. "well, there's nothing more to inform today. you can be on your way now."

"that was quick" sunoo remarked, standing up and heading to the door.

"It's a good thing, see you next month!" heeseung waved goodbye.

"bye!" sunoo replied.

he walked down the halls, heading to the front office to meet his mom. he had been to this hospital many times in his life; he knew the building like the back of his hand.  as he looked around, seeing the same row of ceiling lights that flickered since he was ten, a figure entered his peripheral vision.

it was normal to see other patients in the building, but this one felt so familiar for some reason.

he walked closer in that direction out of curiosity, ignoring his original path.

sure enough, it was someone he knew. someone he knew too well.

yang jungwon was here. wearing a... hospital gown?

"jungwon!" sunoo called, catching the boy's attention.

he turned around, flinching at the sight of his friend.

"hyung? why are you here, is everything okay?" jungwon asked, worriedly heading towards sunoo's direction.

"i should be asking you. why are you here, and in a freaking hospital gown!" sunoo exclaimed, concerned.

"nothing!" jungwon downplayed it. "I'm fine, it's just... it's nothing serious. just tell me, are you all right?"

"i'm okay, doing better in fact." sunoo said. "now you tell me if you're okay!"

"I said i'm fine, i just wasn't feeling well." jungwon dismissed.

"and you're at the hospital for that, in a gown? are you sure?" sunoo questioned, checking the boy's body for any injuries or wires. "plus, this wing specializes in pretty serious medical emergencies"

jungwon paused for a bit.

"i was just exploring. and i told you already, i wasn't feeling very well, and my mom wanted the doctor to run some tests, so they had me change into a gown." he said. "you know how she is. it's nothing serious, i swear— just some precautionary checks to make sure everything's okay."

"you sure?" sunoo asked, feeling a little skeptical.

"i told you everything." jungwon confirmed. "i'm okay, really."

"promise you're not lying just to make me not worry?"

"promise."

after sunoo was finally convinced his best friend was fine, they sat down on some random benches along the hall.

"so you said you were doing better?" jungwon remarked.

"yeah, my life's gonna be normal in a few months" sunoo smiled.

"that means you have to run the mile with me now" jungwon grinned, gently nudging against his body.

"no way, i'm still telling coach rain that i'm still not allowed to" sunoo chuckled.

"hey, not fair" jungwon pouted, jutting out his bottom lip as a joke.

"aw, is the baby cat upset~" sunoo cooed, squishing the younger boy's cheeks.

"i'm not a baby!!" jungwon protested, the previous pout still unintentionally shown on his face. "and you're only a bit older than me"

"well i'm still the hyung, aren't i?" sunoo bragged. "besides, it's not my fault you look like one"

"you don't get to speak, you're cuter than me!" jungwon deflected.

"aww, thanks cutie!" sunoo continued teasing him.

"i should've seen that coming" jungwon grumbled
