After a moment of shock, one singular student —cannon chest girl— spoke up about how she assumed everyone knew that already, which just made Hitomi like her even less.
Hitomi was blindsided for sure, she'd been so wrapped up in her self deprecation that she hadn't even stopped to think that he might've been playing them.
"Midoriya," the teacher called out before leaving the field.
Afterwards he explained the messy haired boy needed to go see Recovery Girl, especially since their real training begins tomorrow.
"Shinso, you go too. Have the old lady make sure your nosebleed was just that, and nothing more serious."
Despite being tired and solely wanting to go home, she nodded as to not disrespect her favorite pro. "Yes sir."
But hey, looking on the bright side, the lanky teen realized she managed to make it through the first day. And she'd have one crazy story to tell her two idiots about.
As the short boy and the tall girl walked down the hallway towards Recovery Girl's office, the recess lights above cast a soft glow on the polished floors.
Midoriya watched them for a bit as they walked in silence, but when his gaze drifted to his hurt hand, he wanted to gather the courage to speak up.
Raising his bandaged finger, he glanced towards Tomi. "Hey, thanks again Shinso, for the uh," he paused as a small smile played on his lips. "For the help earlier."
His voice was quieter now, but held plenty of gratitude nonetheless.
"Huh?" Hitomi glanced at him unknowingly harsh, but her expression softened upon realizing what he was referring to. "Oh."
She gave a short and uncomfortable looking smile; it made her tinted lips form a slightly downturned line, almost giving the illusion of a frown.
"Eh don't mention it. It's just my instinct when I see an injury now," she replied while putting a hand on the back of her neck, shrugging casually.
Izuku's nonstop curiosity was piqued. "Really? Why's that?"
Hitomi hesitated, her eyes flickering with a hint of regret as her hand fell to her pocket.
'Ughhh. I said too much.'
The closed off girl looked through the window to her left, trying to appear nonchalant.
"Nothing crazy. I was just training to be a doctor before applying here."
Izuku's gleaming eyes widened in surprise. "Seriously? That's super cool! I bet that'll come in really handy when you're in the field and someone, or even yourself, needs medical attention!"
