A deep frown immediately creased her sleep-riddled face; the jarring audio was most definitely not her normal clock's tune.
Flipping over uncoordinatedly and nearly sending herself off her bed, she ripped her phone off the charger. Bringing it close to her nearly blind eyes, she slammed cancel on the alarm screen, making it go quiet.
As Hitomi let the phone fall on her chest, she stared at the blurry ceiling. A groan of annoyance, disbelief and confusion all mutated together, accumulating from her chapped lips.
Flashbacks of being abruptly woken up by her father came reeling back, so intensely that the groggy girl nearly got a vertigo centered migraine. He wasn't really an advocate for gentle parenting, especially after Hiro died.
Corralling those unnecessary memories back into the dark corner where they belonged, she refocused on the present. Soon enough, Hitomi's disdain filled eyes narrowed at the obvious answer of how —or rather— who changed her alarm.
"Hitoshi."
Tearing the covers off with irritation as her motivator, she stomped down the hallway and came down the stairs loudly, making Hana and the culprit himself look at her from their spots in the kitchen.
"You," she seethed, pissed off that she missed out on peacefully hitting snooze.
Usually, she'd hit that button and opt for taking a catnap until only having ten minutes to squeeze her whole routine into.
Now she was forced to actually be up on time?? How dare he.
"Mornin," he lazily waved his toast-filled hand. "You look like crap."
She angrily exhaled through her nose, crossing her arms before snapping her gaze to their youthful mother.
"Mom, the control freak changed my alarm to that bass-boosted nyan cat song— again!"
Hana looked between the two as she continued cooking on the island stovetop. She flipped a pancake and suppressed a chuckle, trying to be the responsible mom.
"Hitoshi, don't do that again," she reprimanded lightly. "You know your sister gets cranky when she's woken up abruptly."
A snort came from the lone brother. "What, like she's not always cranky?"
