Katsuro carefully zipped up his bag, giving it a final check before stepping out of his room. He moved down the hall toward the living room, where his father, Sasuke, stood waiting with his usual quiet intensity. The two exchanged a nod—a silent acknowledgment of their bond, trust, and shared understanding of the challenges ahead.
"Let's go," Sasuke said, his tone as calm and steady as ever.
"Right," Katsuro replied, following his father's lead without hesitation.
Soon, they stood on the platform of Beacon Academy's giant airship as it descended, the impressive spires of Beacon stretching into view. Katsuro took his first steps onto Beacon's grounds, his gaze sweeping across the vast campus. The architecture was monumental, a testament to Beacon's reputation, and he felt a surge of energy as he took in the view. Though he didn't say a word, he couldn't deny the awe that Beacon inspired.
"Stay focused, son. There's plenty of time to explore later," Sasuke said, his voice bringing Katsuro back to the present moment.
Katsuro nodded, pushing down his curiosity and turning his attention back to the task at hand. They walked together through the courtyard, where a few curious students noticed them, greeting Sasuke as they passed.
"Good morning, Headmaster!" a group of students called out with bright smiles, bowing respectfully as they passed.
Sasuke acknowledged each greeting with a nod before leading Katsuro to the academy's main auditorium. The spacious room, usually bustling with students, was nearly empty.
Only a few figures occupied the seats in the front row, and Katsuro quickly recognized them as a team of fully-fledged Huntsmen: Jaune Arc, Nora Valkyrie, Lie Ren, and Oscar Pine. Each wore the confident, seasoned expressions of those who had faced real dangers and come out stronger.
As Sasuke and Katsuro entered, Jaune rose to greet them. "Headmaster, good to see you." He gave a respectful nod before his gaze shifted to Katsuro. "And you must be Katsuro. We've been looking forward to meeting you."
Katsuro returned the nod, his tone measured and respectful. "Likewise. I look forward to learning from all of you."
Nora grinned, giving him a thumbs-up. "Just remember, we don't go easy on anyone, Katsuro. But if you're anything like your dad—Pshh~ you'll be fine!" She waved off her hand dismissively while carrying a huge hammer from her back.
Oscar stepped forward, his demeanor calm but welcoming. "We'll be working alongside you on this mission. You've been selected to join us for real Huntsmen work—think of this as a hands-on final test." Oscar gripped his metal staff with confidence.
Sasuke spoke up, his gaze steady as he addressed both Katsuro and the Huntsmen. "This mission isn't just about fighting. It's about working together, adapting, and understanding that real responsibility comes with real risks. Katsuro, this is more than an exam. It's your chance to experience what it means to protect others, alongside people you can rely on."
