As shown by his new friends' slightly grouchy manner... Or it's because he fell out of his hammock. Either way! friends' slightly grouchy manner... Or it's because he fell out of his hammock. Either way!

"Get up!" Ausha tried to shove Garrett off the stool; he stayed firmly on the seat, his head resting on the counter. Noah looked at Ashish, who just shrugged apologetically.

A knock sounded on the treehouse door. "I'll get it," Noah said. Mostly because Ashish shark back the moment the sound went off and partly because Ausha looked really mad. Garrett couldn't even be considered right now.

Garrett's brother stood on the other side, smiling menacingly. Walking right past Noah, he tapped Ausha to get out of his way. With a well-placed kick and a thud, Garrett was on the floor practically shouting he was awake.

"I'm up! I'm UP!" Garrett yelled, rubbing his side. The brown-haired boy gritted his teeth as his older brother explained to Ausha.

"So you have to kick right above his hip really hard, okay?" Gain smiled at Ausha's attentive nod.

"Wha-why are you telling her that? You didn't even tell me!" Garrett clamped his mouth shut with an audible click as Gain fixed him with a harsh stare.

"Back to business, follow me, hatchlings!" Gain exited the hut and walked down the swinging ladders. "Normally Preds. Won't lead the hatchlings to the trough; normally they'll find it themselves by following, but I wanted to meet Garrett's friends!" Gain found a ladder leading to the ground. Not wanting to yell to talk as, undoubtedly, many were still asleep, silence ensued as the five climbed down. Once Ashish hopped off the last few rungs of the ladder, Gain continued explaining, leading them away from their house. Noah and Garrett looked down at the ground from the side of a swinging ladder, quickly returning to the middle, for some reason looking a little pale.

"Normally we'd just let the hatchlings explore and find their way to the Trough, but I decided to check up on my little brother! What're all your names? Barring Garrett, of course." He made a show of leaning close to Ausha to 'whisper' it.

"Yes, I know that!" Garrett spluttered, embarrassment and slight frustration coloring his tone.

"You still responded," Gain recalled in a self-satisfied voice that grated Garrett's nerves. Ashish coughed in a way that sounded suspiciously like a laugh. Garrett felt himself flush. Ashish elbowed Noah.

"I'M- I'm Noah!" Noah said in a voice that was much louder than what he'd intended. "That's Ausha, and this is Ashish." Noah gestured to each member of their quartet as he said their names.

'I HAVE TO LIVE WITH THEM!' Garrett crossed his arms at the thought. 'Bye bye you four blissful years of peace; I'm going to miss being the oldest.'

"Where are you taking us?" Noah asked politely.

"Oh! I thought I mentioned that already." Gain muttered to himself. "Well, to the Trough. Normally, whenever hatchlings start getting up, someone will find the early risers and lead them to the Trough—the cafeteria—and once they get back normally, they'll just direct the rest to the trough. It works really well, actually. I just wanted to bother Garrett." Said boy flushed deeper with annoyance and embarrassment.

"What about our unicorns?" Noah questioned, "Do they fend for themselves or are they fed? Or is it a mix of both? Also, when will we start to learn how to use the elements? And what about the instructors? Will we see them soon? OH! Do they eat at the trough too? Or do they have their own house in the Eyrie? What about visiting the villag-OW?"Noah glared at Garrett, who had elbowed him sharply. "What?"

Gain chuckled, pulling his brother away. "Alright, you two, take a chill pill." The glares moved to the older student. Gain chuckled again.

"Chill pill?" Ashish murmured; Ausha's eyes lit up, but she didn't comment.

"It's a saying from the mainland." Gain explained, cutting off any confused comments from Garrett before he could open his mouth. "It means chill out."

Ashish furrowed his eyebrows and looked at his twin. Ausha stared at him. "Chill out?" Ashish murmured finally.

"It's like calm down." Gain explained patently. "Us mainlanders just say things weirdly."

Ashish nodded, stepping behind Ausha quietly and shrinking from the attention. The three stared at the twins for a moment. Ausha put her hands on her hips. "Well, what are we waiting for? I'm hungry."

Gain shrugged, "Alright." Leading them closer, Garrett could see a platform through the green of the trees. "This is the Trough." Gain waited with an expectant smile on his face.

A metal platform spread out a few ladders connecting it to the treehouses and a few connecting it to the ground, where a buffet line of sorts had food set out. Students milled about on the ground, having picnics near their unicorns and dodging elemental blasts, though most sat on the picnic tables safely on the metal platform.

"Smart." Ausha remarked. "Out of the way of elemental blasts."

Garrett might've agreed if he didn't have more pressing matters to attend to. "Gain, why did you bring us this way if the food was on the ground?"

"No reason." Gain smirked.

I forgot what the Trough looked like so I tried to wing it also sorry it's late
