When Mike woke up, his entire body hurt, so like any normal person, he rolled over and attempted to fall back asleep. Only as soon as he rolled over did the pain flod him, making him fall off the bed; only he didn't. He just landed on the floor. As he got up, his quirk came in at full force, causing him to fall back down, clutching his head, his burns, and his body hurting while his quirk was talking and showing information. A buzz filled his body, much like when your fingers start to get numb from the cold and you go back inside to warm up.
Mike reached out to Kai through the link the two had. 'Kai, what's going on? Where are we? Why are we here? Where's the mountain? Why's it so cold? whatsgoingo-' Mike's questions ceased when Mike felt a hand on his back.
Mike's quirk didn't warn him, so he was safe here, at the very least currently. Mike turned from where he was clutching his head to see an old lady and a younger girl, only then noticing the woman talking to him.
"Kai told us your quirk was hard for you to handle; I didn't think it was this bad. Mike, why don't you get back on your bed?"
Kai dove into the igloo, falling over absolutely nothing. Mike smiled after a minute, both glad to see his brother and amused that he'd managed to fall over nothing.
"Well, we'll be off." The old lady motioned for the younger girl to go with her.
"You good?" Kai asked, confused.
"Yeah, I'm okay."
"You have burns and just collapsed because of your quirk. Don't even think about lying." Kai said as he sat next to Mike, helping him to sit up.
Mike paused as he processed the overload of information. "Where are we?"
"Less complicated version, from what I know, is the south pole. The more complicated version is likely a different world with a war going on. What'd you see?" Mike shrugged, "bits and pieces of different things. I think, from the war you mentioned, honestly, it didn't make sense. How'd we get here?"
"A kid named Aang brought us what he says is a flying bison, but I haven't seen it fly at all. Aang says he's tired." Kai's voice betrayed whether he believed Aang or not.
"Okay. Explain the complicated version."
Kai shifted how he was sitting and paused, trying to collect his thoughts. After a few short moments, Kai started explaining.
"What I know?" he started. "We arrived falling from the sky according to Sokka and Katara moments before they had woken up Aang, and then some large bright blue beam went off in the sky when Aang did wake up.
The people here are quirkless but have what is called bending, which allows them to control the four main elements. Since we're at the South Pole, they have waterbending. Both the North and South Poles have waterbending. Inland is where the earthbenders are; the firebenders occupy an island; and the airbenders used to occupy four towers only airbenders could get to as a natural defense, seeing they were pacifists. No one's seen airbenders for a hundred years, so it was assumed they had all been killed. Until Aang, that is.
Make sense?"
Mike nodded slowly, clearly still confused. "Some people have a not-quirk called bending that allows them to control one of the main four elements depending on where they live, right?"
"I think it's more genetic than anything, but yeah."
Both boys sat in a tense silence until Mike offered his hand to Kai.
"Let's try to figure this out, then worry about getting back."
"Fine," Kai said, looking at his brother.
