Knock
The alarm shone 12:00 exactly as the first sharp knock echoed on the door. Garrett held his breath as he waited for the second knock.
Knock
Gerrett sat up in his bed smiling at his luck.
Knock
Hejumped out of his bed and grabbed his bag.
Knock
Garett could hear his parents getting up from their room.
Knock
The clock changed to 12:01 as the last knock sounded. He heard voices from his parents room as they talked but couldn't make out the noise. He headed out into the hall toward the door, throwing his bag onto the couch.
Garrett's father appeared in the hall, his mother and two younger sisters following. Garrett's father opened the door and a liaison officer stood on the other side, waiting.
"I'm here for Garrett Ferguson."
Garett we practically vibrated from excitement when he heard his name. Garett poked his head behind his tired father.
"That's him." Garrets father pointed to his only son at home.
"Garret passed the test. Pack -if needed- and say your goodbyes."
Garett's father nodded, he was still one of the skeptics on the Island but there wasn't much he could do. And everything with the weaver hadn't helped his skepticism. At least he'd be able to see the Island at the end of the year.
Garett was confused but happy nonetheless considering he was pretty sure he hadn't passed the test. But he was still heading to the Island! He'd likely have a unicorn by the end of today!
Garett was gathered in a hug. Oh right, first goodbyes. He hugged back his mother fervently, getting through the goodbyes as fast as possible, hugging everyone, waving back every little while, while following the liaison officer to the cars that would take them to the white unicorn.
It took everything in Garrett to not jump up and shout for joy knowing he'd get to enter the hatchery. Everything after that everything's a mystery but someone would likely fill him in.
'Oh, right the weavers on the Island' Garett thought, his excitement subdued. 'I wonder what the Islands doing about that. I'm going to the Island!'
Garret returned to his previously vibrating self as he felt a buzz in his pocket. 'Oop grabbed my phone on accident.
"Um, Mr. I accidentally grabbed my phone."
The only response he got was a hand reaching back. Garett put the phone in his hand and it retracted a bit creepily. 'Huh.'
Garett turned his thoughts on what he thought his unicorn would look like, or the name, or allied element, or how fast a flier, while looking out the window, time seemingly slowed.
Finally the boy arrived at the white unicorn and marveled at the helicopters having no idea where to go he followed the line of kids his age. Garett hopped from one leg to another gaining a few strange looks, Garett was too excited to care.
The lady pointed at the last four, "you all are on blitzen it's the one on the far right." The lady pointed in the general direction of the helicopter. Garett nodded and walked to the helicopter.
Once everyone was on, the door closed and the helicopter was filled with the loud sound of the engine and the main router started. The pilots up at the command board talked into their helmets about different specifics concerning take off, the flight as well as positioning of the other helicopters.
