Chapter 3
Shouta Aizawa sat with Nezu next to him, waiting for Aliese to explain what had happened. All that was known currently was, as Shouta and Cadence had been arguing, that they heard glass break in their daughter's room. They went to see what had happened, only to see Aliese passed out on the floor and Verity nowhere to be found. The most freaky part of the entire situation is that neither Cadence nor her mother could find out what happened.
Cadence had Aliese in a hug as she attempted to calm the sobbing girl. "Hey, sweety, can you tell us what happened?" Cadence had been with Aliese; she had woken up, but she still had not calmed down. Cadence looked at Shouta wearily.
The past few days had been stressful for all of them, and this disappearance had only added to the panic. Shouta stood up and walked over to his daughter. He rubbed her back for a few moments before starting to talk.
"Aliese, we're going to find Verity. But we need your help to do that. Do you think you're calm enough to tell us, or do you need more time?"
Shouta heard 'more time' in between the sobs. "Okay, tell your mother when you think you're calm enough. Can you do that?" Shouta saw a nod from the small, trembling figure. He nodded before placing a kiss on both of the ladies' heads. Nezu stood up, motioning for Shouta to follow him.
Closing the door, Shouta rubbed his face, rage burning within him. Nezu waited patiently for Shouta to gather himself.
Shouts sighed again before standing straight. "What is it you need?"
"I believe," Nezu said in his almost unnervingly high voice, "that I found who was at the cliff. You won't like it."
Aizawa looked like he had aged five more years after hearing that sentence. "Who?"
Nezu looked away to gain strength, and Shouta felt the cold hand of paralyzing fear grip his heart. Shouta could count on one hand how many times Nezu had looked away first. And still have fingers left over. The rodent returned the look.
"All for one."
Shouta felt the panic claw at his chest. The only thing he could think of was the worst swear he knew.
"Do you think that the other times are connected?"
"I'm not sure; however, All Might is close to finding him." Nezu knew better than to say 'for better or worse' aloud, but it was the truth. He'd have to talk to his former student.
"Okay."
Nezu turned to walk away. "I'm trusting this with you." Nezu stopped his plastered-looking smile and said, "Thank you."
Nezu walked out of the hall, leaving the black-haired man to wait for his wife by himself.
Mike watched Kai's training with rapt attention. To sum it up, it would pretty much be, 'stay on your toes' and 'this is airbending, not firebending: be loose with it.' Mike thought it was awesome. Kai was pretty much the jack of all trades, seeing him having trouble with something was almost unheard of.
"I think that's enough for today." Probably the airbender's best quality would be how carefree he is.
"I can keep going, you know." Kai grunted, his body falling out of position gratefully. Kai heard a snort of amusement from his brother and flicked air towards him, knocking him over comically, feet high above his head. Kai turned back to his airbending teacher, his eyes pleading.
"You probably shouldn't; your forms are getting sloppy or too forceful. Go take a break." Aang turned to the mob of kids, and they all ran off to do who knows what mischief.
