Chapter 5 ~ Confusion

I think that Draco has more love to give than any other character, it was just hidden behind a layer of darkness.

"I can't remember," I groaned frustrated. I was sitting with my hands in my hair, in the candlelit classroom, across Malfoy.

"Look at this theory again," he said half sleeping, "surely it can't be that hard! But then again, maybe it is for a stupid person like yourself."

We were sitting across eachtother, one of our many evenings spent together in this classroom. We had been here for almost three hours and I was getting tired. Three hours of practicing spells and learning history of magic which was...boring. Charms and defense against the dark arts were the most important subjects for me to learn. But occasionally Dumbledore thought it important for me to learn the history of magic. I sighed, I was too bored to concentrate.

"I'd rather learn some new spells Malfoy." I sighed.

"You will, but first you need to learn this. We can't let you be stupid forever now can we."

"Stop calling me stupid you jerk," I said angrily. I wasn't stupid, but he kept calling me that. Just to piss me off I guess.

"Look," he continued, ignoring me completely. "I don't think that this is interesting either, but the sooner you get through this, the sooner we can do some spells again, so go on." He looked tired.

Half an hour later we decided to call it a day. "I will see you tomorrow I guess," he shrugged. We were packing our stuff and getting ready to leave.

"Wait," he called out to me when I had almost left the classroom. I turned around to see him coming closer to me. "I guess you let this fall," he said, locking his eyes with mine.

I looked down to see what he was holding, my bracelet. The one Luna made for me last week. It was a silver bracelet with cherries, really pretty. A strange feeling of nervousness filled my body as I saw him looking like that at me.

"Oh I didn't notice..." I whispered, "thanks." He nodded in response, not looking away once.

"I'll help you if you want," he said silently. I held out my arm and he put my bracelet on very gentle, very carefully. As he withdrew his hand, I felt his hand touch mine, very fast.

His eyes found mine again, and then he was gone.

The rest of that evening I was easily distracted and confused. "I...," I started thinking of an excuse, "I'm going to the library, I need a little more studying for tonight and then I'll come back."

"You study too much," Luna replied. I bid her goodbye and left the common room. I wasn't really going to the library and I felt bad for not telling her the truth but I just needed some time on my own. Everything was so hectic and I needed a break so I could think things over.

I found the perfect quiet spot to go when you needed some time to yourself. I had been in here daylight but at night it was even better. The astronomy tower was such a nice place to be and I was happy to have found a quiet spot amongst all this craziness that was going on. It was extremely peaceful here. I took everything in and sat down at the border of the tower where I had a clear view of the lake and the starry night. A chilly breeze played with my hair and I was more relaxed than ever. I sighed. This had been an amazing journey so far, but also overwhelming at times. At times like right now where I just needed a moment for myself.

Suddenly I had to think of Malfoy. He irritated me more than anyone could ever do. He made me so angry and we were fighting all the time. Yet at times I'd think that there was something more about him, something rather nice, that he didn't show. I mentally slapped myself for letting him pop up so randomly in my thoughts, I wasn't supposed to be thinking of him. He was a good tutor though, and that was a fact I couldn't deny. I had made a lot of progress thanks to him.
