Chapter 15 :
“Alice come here, I need a hand with my hair !”
I hurried myself into the bathroom to see Hermione struggling to get her hair right. I chuckled lightly and helped her getting ready as she returned the favor. We had organized a little come together with some girls before the ball so we had enough time to prepare ourselves to look descent.
Ginny was helping Luna out with her make-up as I was working on Hermione’s hair. “I am sure Ron will not be able to keep his eyes of you !” I told her.
“Hush” Ginny interfered, “that’s my brother you are talking about !” I grinned and Hermione just blushed.
“I am surprised that he asked me at last though, I never thought he would pick up the courage” she observed.
“He he wouldn't have you could have gone to the ball with Cormac” Luna joked. Ginny and I laughed while Hermione pretended to be vomiting.
“And that Harry has finally asked you” I addressed Ginny. I noticed how she looked instantly happier when thinking of Harry.
“Me too Alice, but letter late than never I guess.”
“He asked me for advice multiple times you know” I confessed, “I told him that if he liked you that he should just go for it !” Harry and I had spent some time together over the last couple of days. After my talk with Malfoy a few days ago, Harry and I had spent almost every afternoon together. I trusted Harry and thought of him almost like a brother.
When we were finally done fixing our hair and make-up we got dressed. I absolutely adored my dress and was happy to finally have an opportunity to wear it. After some more girltalk we made our way downstairs where our dates would be waiting for us.
Luna and Neville were the first to meet each other. Neville started stuttering at the sight of her, but I wasn’t going to lie, she looked absolutely lovely. Harry and Ron were waiting for their dates at the stairs. I descended the stairs feeling quite alone without my friends by my side. I was very aware of the necklace hanging around my neck and the way how graciously my dress was moving.
I had been thinking about Malfoy a lot lately. Ever since we got kicked out of class and talked together there were so many more things that I wanted to ask him. It was only too bad that he acted like a jerk again. Once in a while I’d see a hint of something good in him and the next he was all hateful again. It made me think about him so much… About our talk, about how we kissed…twice. I didn’t want to have a crush on him, but I couldn’t deny that I hadn’t anymore.
Blaise pov :
“Come on man lighten up a bit !” I nudged Draco’s side, my eyes never leaving the stairs in search of my date. I had asked Cho and was surprised when she agreed.
“I don’t need to 'lighten up' at all” Draco interrupted my thoughts with a cold voice. “Everyone here is just shitty and a ball like this is a waste of time.”
I laughed at him and tried to make him laugh as well but failed miserably. When we were alone he would make jokes all the time, I guess he was just thinking about his reputation that he so desperately tried to keep up. Like no one was allowed to see any emotion on his face. Like it was absolutely necessary to shut everybody out.
