_POV: THE HUMAN WORLD_
Nimue paced around the room nervously. Kael looked confused, while Xavier seemed unbothered.
"Who's this... Asher?" Kael asked again.
Aria looked at the two blonde boys before gazing at Nimue, giving her a slight nod to tell them who Asher was.
"C'mon now, give me a tour around your house... yeah?" Aria asked, slowly pushing the boys to the other part of the house
"But I want to know... what do you guys know about Asher?" Rave yelled.
"Yeah, me too!" Ryan yelled back.
Once Aria and the boys were out of sight, Nimue slumped.
Lax kept a hand on her shoulder for support"Asher is... someone I saved from Callisto one night back," Nimue explained. "He seems and perceives human, but I don't think he is."
" What did Callisto want with him?"Kael asked
"Definitely not for feast...he chained him.." nimue said
Lax nodded. "Humans perceive differently, just like those weird blonde boys."
Kael crossed his hands, leaning his butt on a desk nearby. "So, where is this Asher now?"
"Tenebrous," Lax replied.
Xavier's voice came deep but calm and collective. "But you said he perceives human?"
Nimue nodded. "We were supposed to meet him... again... and figure out what he is. I mean, humans can't pass through the veil."
"Yeah, everyone knows that," Kael said.
"I feel this mission is useless..." Xavier's face twisted a bit before returning to his normal unfazed expression.
"How so?" Lax asked.
"I've felt so even before we came here... I knew nothing good was going to come out of it," Xavier said, taking a deep breath like he hasn't in years, his eyes closing before opening.
"Why didn't you say earlier?" Kael rolled his eyes.
"Your constant whining isn't necessary Kael"the way Xavier said his name made Kael shudder
"Plus... I didn't want to seem like an obstacle," Xavier finished.
"I'm with Xavier on this one..." Nimue muttered. "I honestly think we should go back. Something tells me everything from start to finish doesn't feel right... Something deep inside me... is telling me Asher's not alright... and if he's not alright, I won't be able to forgive myself." She spoke under her breath, tears pooling in her eyes.
"We'll go back..." Lax finally said.
Suddenly, Aria ran to them. "Guys! You need to see this," she said.
Aria took them down a dry, dark path, illuminated only by a dimly flickering bulb at the end of the stairs.
"Where are the boys?" Nimue asked, waving her hand across her nose to ward off the stuffy air.
"I may have cast a stop spell on them," Aria replied with a cheeky smile. "But that's not the point... look!"
She dragged out a large, old chest box.
"What's that?" Lax asked, his fingers tracing the chest's intricate carvings.
"I'm not sure," Aria said, "but look at this symbol... it has all our markings carved on it." She pointed to a symbol by the keyhole.
"Sooo?" Kael drawled.
Aria rolled her eyes. "So, we need to figure out what it means, Kael!"
Kael yelled, frustration etched on his face, "Figure this, figure that! I'm fuckin' tired!! I'm going home, man!" He stomped back upstairs to the living room.
The others remained downstairs for a while before following with the chest.
"Are we taking this?" Kael asked, disgust written across his face.
Lax muttered, "Ignore him."
Nimue sighed, "Guess we're back to that again..."
Aria suddenly exclaimed, "Wait! I forgot to unfreeze the blonde weird boys!"
She closed her eyes, chanting a spell as glowing lights left her body and dispersed across the room.
"Quick, before they come here!" Aria urged.
The group joined hands, creating a portal that zapped them back to Tenebrous.
"Hey! I-" Rave and Ryan ran up to the sitting room to find no one.
