“Bye, chachu. Bring massi too next time. I miss her” she pecked my cheek and ran inside the mansion. I stood frozen to the ground.

Today, has been the calmest day since she left. I hadn't smoked since morning. I had meals with Ruhana and of all I was at peace.

Although she mentioned her a few times, she instantly shut herself, saying that her massi would come back to her.

She had fun, and I made sure she got whatever she laid a finger on. And we ended up with 15 shopping bags and I just hope her mother doesn't run to kill me.

My stillness was interrupted when I heard my phone ringing. I shook my thoughts away and shovelled my hand into my pocket. I pulled my phone out only to see my father calling me.

I quickly slid the green button and attached the phone to my ear.

“Papa. Papa. How are you?” I did not give him the chance to speak because my father called me after a year and I can’t lose that chance.

“At my house in 15 minutes.” And the line went dead.

I bought the blank screen in front of me unable to think what to even think?

I sighed and turned back to sit in my car.

I lit a cigarette and had a puff. My phone rang again and it was from the guard whom I assigned for Aashika.

“Sir Aashika mam is staying in 740 Park Avenue Apartments with a friend named Swastika.” I haven’t heard about this friend before. Who is she?

“Did you do a background check on Swastika?” I asked as I revved the engine, puffed my cigarette and moved to my father’s house.
