Obito was still in the place he had met that crying child once more. It was an interesting development.

He had let her survive on a whim, one that was to her disadvantage. She had to leave the village that was her home and go out in the world with nothing other than what she could grab at the moment.

Plus, her family was dead. She would have to see them as she left.

Could she handle it?

Would she even survive in the world?

Would death be kinder?

These were thoughts that didn't enter his mind. It was a dog eat dog world, and for all he knew, she was as good as diner.

Did he give a death sentence? Most definitely. Did he care? Not one bit. If their paths crossed in the future, it would mean the world was against her.

Her luck was nonexistent.

When he first laid eyes on the crying child, he had thought nothing. No pity and no sympathy. But she was really pitiful, so much so that he had to mock her.

It would be wasteful to not.

Itachi didn't look any better than her, but he wasn't bleeding.

Obito had only spared her because of her mangekyou sharingan. It was rare to happen in the Uchiha clan, and even more so when it was a half blood. It was entirely unnatural, and impossible.

But here was that crying child, tears running down her face and anger evident.

Then he noticed the shield, messy, not finished and entirely new. Was it her own making? This small girl? Who would have thought.

He threw a punch, testing its strength. It wasn't a powerful punch, but not completely weak either. And the shield withstood it?

Interesting, this is a new development that he welcomed.

If he wanted to, that girl would no longer be. Kamui would make quick work and he would finish the rest. But no, let's see if she can survive.

On a whim, he decided to let her survive, just to see what would happen. The girl's words egged him on, her mocking and vulgarity. It was unlike the Uchiha, but more like a different type of one.

So he left, and left her alone. A threat so she wouldn't speak was all that was needed so she wouldn't come back. He didn't even keep an eye on her to make sure she heeded his threat.

He knew she did. Why would she risk it? They are all the same. But when they saw each other again, he wanted to see how she would grow.

And grow she did, she went beyond his expectations. It was the right choice to let her live.

But it seemed that in that short time they were away, she cared less and less about her life. She even dared to stand up to him, it was entertaining.

And very bold.

But he expected this, she was very bold when she was a child. As a young adult, it was almost a cliche.

When he got word back that she escaped, he had to hold back a chuckle. He knew that defiant look, she planned to escape the moment she was captured.

But to pull it off, now that was something praise worthy. But it wasn't all her abilities.

Sasori lacked annoyance at the situation, she had escaped from his clutches yet he shrugged it off. He could tell from Sasori that she had done or said something to him.

A change that somehow gave her the change to escape.

How peculiar, but he didn't question it.

He had brought her on another whim. Having heard of someone that was under Orochimaru who had the same abilities, it was obvious that the girl made a choice.

Orochimaru was known for his obsession with the sharingan, what better than to risk your life to be under his protection.

Another bold move that paid off.

And a good choice at that. At least he knows wherever Orochimaru is, she will be close by. Hiding under his watchful gaze.

The lesser evil if you will.

But let's see where this choice will bring her.
