As the four of us pushed our way into the potions class, Professor Sharp checked in with me, having obviously heard about my most recent exploration from my brother because his look of concern gave it away. I just smiled towards the professor, but then turned to glare at my brother as he sat in his new seat near Adelaide Oakes. I raised my eyebrow towards the professor, but only received the same expression in return as I knew exactly why he'd switched Zander: to avoid another cauldron explosion due to obvious jealousy over Ominis and Adelaide. I scoffed lightly in response, but I couldn't stop the smirk from tracing my features as I took my spot near Ominis. It was a simple class today, making Maxima potions and the Thunderbrew potion. Ominis helped to usher me into the ingredient room as I looked for shrivel fig, one of the only ingredients I hadn't found outside of Hogwarts yet, and I took out a stench of the dead and some leech juice I had collected.

After combining the ingredients, I began to stir my cauldron, it slowly becoming a darker purple by the minute. Natty and Garreth seemed to be making their required Thunderbrew potion, but Natty was glaring at him as he began yet another experimentative potion in a smaller cauldron. I turned my gaze back to my own cauldron for a moment, admiring the fine shimmer that was beginning to appear, as a sudden poof of smoke cracked near Garreth's face. "Weasley, how many times do I have to tell you? If you're going to experiment, do it freely...outside of class. When you're here, your time becomes mine: 10 points from Gryffindor. Both Natty and I glared at the ginger-haired boy as he had the common knowledge to at least look a little ashamed by causing yet another disruption, according to the class beliefs. As for me, I was just glad it wasn't caused by me again; I liked Professor Sharp, and I didn't want him to think I was only a prankster.

Don't get me wrong, a good prank relieves some stress, but I wouldn't make it as obvious as doing so in class. If I commit a prank, the receiving party won't be able to see it coming until it's too late. "Now that Mr. Weasley has gotten his daily explosion out of the way," causing the Weasley to scoff indignantly as Sharp continued, "who can tell me what a Thunderbrew potion can do?" He scoured the room, looking for an extended hand, but his gaze narrowed in on me as he spoke. "Miss Potter? Any ideas?" Humming, I put a finger under my chin in consideration as I shrugged and gave my best guess, "Well, considering it's called a 'Thunderbrew', I would assume that it creates thunder? Maybe lightning too?" He laughed lightly, but did give a small nod as he added onto my answer: "Yes and no. While it does create both thunder and lightning, it really just creates a storm that produces both of those things above wherever you're standing. It occurs within a 1 mile radius of where the drinker would be standing.

Storm clouds would form above you, it would begin to rain and it is actually very useful when it comes to combat. It protects you, similar to a couple much harder spells that we'll learn about next year. The thunder is deafening to those around you, and depending on the potency of the shrivel fig, could even immobilize some of the enemies that are attacking you. The lightning will strike down those who are attacking as well, and the dark clouds create an excellent source of cover if there is a bigger opponent, or even ones who could be attacking from brooms, that will shroud a view of you in darkness. It's very useful in difficult situations," he finished, looking at me again towards the end to practically scream at me how it would be detrimental to my fight against Ranrok. Though, he couldn't possibly know...could he? Maybe he's the one that gave the boys the Marauder's Map...he did seem fairly concerned with me when I came in.

I did make a note to ask him at some point, as well as noting how I found the ingredients for the Thunderbrew potion:

Shrivel Fig: Can't seem to find it in the wild yet; I must buy some Shrivel Fig seeds so that I can grow my own.

Stench of the Dead: Kill any inferi's to get these; I'll have to ask how these are created, mostly because of how frightening they are. Note to self - Make sure that when you ask, you don't make them think we're planning to create the inferis.
