A Farewell

No one's POV

"Marcus," she whispered, leaning closer. "You're awake."

He blinked slowly, taking in his surroundings, and then he remembered. "My mom... she's gone," he said, his voice breaking. Tears filled his eyes as he struggled to sit up, and Mia rushed to help him.

"I'm so sorry, Marcus," she said, her voice trembling. "I can't imagine how you feel."

He looked away, unable to meet her gaze, his expression full of pain. "I didn't protect her," he choked out. "She died because of me."

"No, it's not your fault," Mia insisted, feeling her heart ache for him. "You did everything you could. She loved you so much."

Marcus's tears spilled over as he let out a shaky breath. "I am soo guilty " he admitted, his voice thick. "She was my everything."

Mia moved closer, wrapping her arms around him as he broke down. " Marcus. I'm here for you. We'll get through this together."

As they held each other, the world outside faded away. They shared the weight of grief, two hearts finding connection.

The day of the funeral arrived, and the atmosphere was heavy with sorrow. Mia stood by Marcus's side as they faced the small gathering of people who had come to say their goodbyes. The sight of his mother's casket filled Marcus with sorrow, and Mia squeezed his hand, trying to give him strength.

As they placed flowers on the casket, Marcus whispered, "I wish I could tell her how much I love her one last time."

Mia nodded, tears streaming down her cheeks. "She knew, Marcus. She always knew."

Suddenly, a familiar voice cut through the sad moment. "What a tragedy," Helen said as she approached, her expression unreadable.

Mia felt a chill run down her spine at the sight of her. "What are you doing here?" Marcus asked, his voice filled with anger and confusion.

"I came to pay my respects," Helen replied, acting all sad.

Marcus stepped protectively in front of Mia. "Stay away from us Helen."
