I didn't ask any further questions and I stood outside Marcus's house, feeling uneasy. The night was quiet, but something about it felt off. I glanced at Marcus, who seemed different, more serious than usual.
"You can't go back home," Marcus said softly. "It's not safe for you there."
I nodded, still unsure, but followed him inside.
The house was large and cold, this place felt more like a museum than a home. Pictures hung on the walls, but something about them seemed strange.
"This place feels... different," i said, my voice barely audible.
"It's safe,That's all that matters right now.",Marcus replied.
He led me upstairs to a small room, asking me to rest.
But sleep was the last thing on My mind. I couldn't shake the uneasiness i felt, especially after meeting Marcus's mother earlier that evening. The way she had looked at Me was chilling.
As I laid on the bed, I heard murmurs outside my room. I got up quietly, pressing my ear against the door. It was Marcus and some lady speaking in hushed voices.
"You can't keep hiding the truth," she said, her voice sharp. "She'll find out soon."
"I don't want her to get involved," Marcus replied, frustrated. "She's been through enough."
My heart raced. What were they talking about? I felt like I had walked into something much bigger than i thought.
