I didn't know whom to trust. I sighed loudly enough for Claire to notice. She sighed too, and we both laughed at it before continuing our work.

Despite Ellie asking me not to help Helen, I couldn't trust Ellie in this. I had seen her and Mark acting suspiciously before we became friends.

So, I messaged Helen to meet up so I could show her Marcus's diary, which I found while searching his dorm.

Helen showed up at the café where I had asked her to meet.
As Helen walked into the café, She spotted me at the corner table, and with a slight nod, she made her way over. Her usual confidence was present, but I couldn't help but notice a flicker of something in her eyes-was it curiosity?

"Marcus's diary?" she asked, sitting down across from me.

I pulled out the small, worn book from my bag, placing it gently on the table between us. "I found it in his dorm," I said, trying to gauge her reaction. "I didn't read anything inside as I thought it might be inappropriate,so i thought to open it while you are there too as his mom."i assured her.

Helen flipped through the diary quickly, not stopping at any of the pages, and that's when I realized-she didn't want me to see certain parts of it. My gut instinct told me to take the diary back before she could hide anything.

"Wait," I said, grabbing the book from her hands. Helen's face darkened slightly, but she forced a smile. "There's something in here that you don't want me to see, isn't there?"

"What are you talking about, Mia?" Helen said calmly, though I could feel her tension rising.

I quickly opened the diary to the page where Marcus had scribbled something. My eyes widened. It was a name-Helen's name-along with a mention of a deal she had made with someone I didn't recognize but the words said "Helen is a bad mom i could ever ask for,she wants me to be dead as she dealed about something to some illegal people, and they want me dead too.". The rest of the text was too vague to make sense, but it was enough to make my blood run cold.

"I knew it," I muttered under my breath. "You're hiding something."

Helen's smile faltered. "Mia, don't be rash. You don't understand what's going on."

But I had already made up my mind. "I'm taking this to the police," I said, standing up and shoving the diary into my bag. My heart was racing, but I knew I had to get out of there.

Helen's calm exterior cracked. "Mia, you're making a mistake,".
