Omg what if Kiyotaka became Link?

Aren't they similar, or am I just feeling acoustic.

***********

Not knowing what to do after my studies were finished, I felt lost. Unaware of where I was going. So I resorted to training, training myself with the sword. Why you may ask? It was a cocoon. Kept me feeling satisfied and fulfilled. And I didn't think much of it, I mean what could happen?

But when I was approached by a few Hylian guards, I knew they were after something. And that's when the words were uttered.

"We want to appoint you as the princess's personal guard."

I was dumbfounded. Me? But I guess it made sense, however hard of a background I had come from. And not having anything else to do, I waved bye to the friends I had made and resorted to the royal life.

It had started out easy at first, I didn't have much to do. Strolling with the princess around the kingdom and examining flowers, it wasn't difficult work. That was until I first had to use my training.

"Princess!"

I remember grasping her shoulder, moving her away from a sword strike. Ugly shaped men wearing masks swarmed the 2 of us, but it wasn't difficult to make quick work of them. And after dealing with the lot of, I could tell the princess had grown accustomed to me. It even felt as if she had finally trusted me.

However, a sense of dread lingered with everyone in the kingdom. It had been a century. The castle's defences couldn't have been breached like this. It was seemingly obvious. Some evil was at work, and none of us were ready for what was to come.

********

I, alongside the princess were talking to a builder. He was an old and frail man, but he was working with his team, building something called a divine beast. A weaponized giant, capable of defending the kingdom for centuries. It was of course being made due to the king's worry. He was fearing an imminent attack from evil forces, in half a century or so.

But the King didn't know. No one knew. It was going to happen right now.

The builder's head was blown clean off his body. I pushed the princess to the floor as another beam flew by.

"Guardians? What has happened!" The princess cried.

The guardians were built to protect the people of Hyrule, not for them to...

Turn dark. And try to kill us.

I rushed over to the princess, picking her up off the floor as we ran. Ran far away.

****

The onslaught that happened after was unprecedented. Death upon death. Crumbling buildings, crushed people, broken souls. They weren't letting up. And all hope seemed to be lost. But that's when all the different races across Hyrule united, sending in their most skilled warriors. Thereafter, for a short while. It was positive. We were on course to win. Without any important casualty's.

Until that fated day. After learning that her father had passed as a martyr, valiantly fighting in the front lines, the princess was broken. And I couldn't stop her as she ran out of the kingdom, and towards the battlefield.

I rushed after her.

"Princess!" I shouted after her, but my words fell on deaf ears.

She had nothing to lose. But for me.

I would lose something...If she died.

I quickened my pace, rushing after her as a sense of dread fulfilled me. A guardian saw us, and rushed at the princess. I ran faster, as the guardian quickened it's pace.

"Princess NO!"

I threw the princess to the floor as the beam from the guardian relayed through the side of my stomach. I held my sword, pushing the tip onto the ground, holding myself up. The princess stared up at me, as the rain began to pour on the battlefield.

I rushed over to the guardian, pinning my sword deep inside it's eye. It broke, shutting off and clumping to the floor.

I couldn't pull my sword back out, I didn't have the strength to. I tumbled backwards, falling in front of the princess as the rain poured harder.

"I'm sorry princess." I groaned, as we got surrounded by guardians.

The princess cried, pulling me in for a hug. I embraced the hug, before grasping the princess's hand. Revali, someone who had always despised me, saw the desperate look on my face. He swooped down, picking the princess up and flying her away.

I watched as she cried out, her arm outstretched as the guardian's readied their beams. I tried standing back up, but it didn't take long for the guardians to make quick work of me.

I slumped onto the floor, as the soldiers around me tried dispatching the guardians, however being too late. I held one's hand.

"Keep the people safe."

I managed to mutter, before dying out. Who would've thought?
