People whispered and pointed at us. It was a little uncomfortable, but I was getting used to it. Would it be like this every time we went out? Having to get used to it? I didn't care if it was, because I had him. Through the whispers and points, occasionally someone around us would would want a picture with him, but when they did he would hold my hand so he didn't let go of me. I loved that.
He pulled his own phone out of his pocket, and handed it to a woman sitting next to us. "Can you take a picture of us?" She nodded and took the phone. He wrapped both arms tight around my waist and laid his chin on my shoulder. I leaned my head back enough to put my cheek against his. He turned around and kissed me on the nose, and the camera snapped.
She continued to take a few more. They were all random, not posed, so there were fans in the background waving and trying to get into the picture, but I didn't pay any mind to that. When she lights went down, she handed Ross back his phone. He started scrolling through and looking. I watched him for a few minutes. He goes to the first picture and smiles showing it to me. I loved it. There wasn't anyone focused on the camera, not even us. He was kissing my nose looking at me, and my eyes were shut smiling.
He clicks the share button going to Instagram. He adds no filters, just the raw photo. He only types a few words in the text:
"This has been a while coming, but I want to introduce someone. Everyone, meet Heather. She's amazing, and I love her. Thought you all should know."
He shows me the phone, asking permission I presume. I take the phone, clicking on tags. Clicking on my face, I add me to it. I click the check mark to save it. This was going to bring heat, but I didn't care. I hand it back to him, and he sees what I did. I smile to him. He clicks the Twitter option, than hands it back to me. I pause for a moment, taking a deep breathe, than share it. The notification came across my phone that I was tagged. In a matter of minutes I have to mute my phone. Follow requests start pouring in. I show him my screen, than put my phone away.
He knows that I will have to get used to it, and I know the bad comments will start coming in. But for now, everything was perfect. I could sing, be with Ross and feel free in a dark space with not everyone knowing we were here. Later I would deal with the comments and requests. That would have to be turned off, my account would be on everyone's list soon.
As the show went on, waiting for Nickelback to come on, we sang to Fray and Daughtry. He would hold me tight and close on the sweet love songs. When Nickelback finally came on, the crowd went wild. I knew every song here. Watching my image, I couldn't break down and scream like I would have before the picture had been shared. But it was sure to be caught on someone's camera. I would save that for on the way home. Between my singings, he would kiss me, and I have to admit, I could get used to this. I was totally comfortable now.
When the show was over, just as I suspected, their were cameras, microphones and badges in the lobby. "Follow me," Ross says as he makes a run for a large group of people. We tail them, but a camera man spots us.
After they get close and an hour of answering questions, we are finally free. I was sure I stayed cool during all this, I would find out over the next 24 hours. As we walk away, he wraps his arm around my shoulder, and I grab his hand. He notices the tiny tremors, and squeezes my hand. When we get to his car, he opens the door for me and helps me in. Before closing the door, he leans in kissing my nose and smiling.
When he closes the door, I pull my phone out. Almost three thousand follow requests. I went into Instagram, first turning off request to follow, and go to his Instagram, and screen show the photo. After I posted the picture, I was officially announcing he was mine. My comment:
This man is perfect. I love him. He took me to see the best rock band ever, accept his of course. I had a lot of fun. Thanks Love.
I tag him, than show him. He smiles at me and hits the share button. I turn the phone toward him and snap a picture of him. Than I share that one with no comment. I wasn't sure what to say to it. I got a sense of security knowing that in a matter of an hour, half the world would know he was mine. Deep inside I have been afraid that he would disappear and I would forget he even existed. Like it all really was a dream.
We ride in silence as I try to organize my thoughts. After what just happened, my life was no longer private, and I would be watched too. Not that I did much, but I knew I had to watch every word I said. I snuggled close, and he kissed the top of my head. He knew what was on my mind, and he was giving me time to process everything. By now his siblings and Ellington knew we were out to the world, and if anyone gave me a hard time about it, it would be Ellington.
I used to think it would be Riker until I got to know him a little better. He knew, from my guitar session with Rocky the other night, I was a bashful person. He knew I was getting used to this life. As much as he picked, I don't think he would about that. Frog is as worse as it gets. Ellington knew me least than any of them, I wasn't sure he would know to not pick. If I did mess up, he would surely point it out.
I wasn't too worried, I calmed down. I decided to call dad instead of stopping by. I explained, but sort of lied, my excuse for staying a few more nights. Yes, truth I was sick. Lie, it was only one day, not two. And I told him we were having a movie night tonight and tomorrow night. I told him I would stop by tomorrow and see him in the morning. I knew I didn't have to lie, I could have just told him I didn't want to come home. I didn't mention the concert, seeing as how he is currently in contract with R5, he would find out.
