The next morning I wake up alone. The sky is quite bright, and I'm still very tired. I climb out of bed, and walk out into the living room. It wasn't like Ross to get up before I woke up. That only happened once. When I got to the living room, it was silent. I walked out to the garage, still silent. I walked over to the fridge where he left a note last time, and there was a folded piece of paper. This wasn't Ross' handwriting, much neater.

Heather,
Another last minute appearance. Ross asked me to write you a note to let you know where we were. We had to fly out very early this morning. In NY, but be back around 3. Make yourself at home. Ross said to tell you he loved you. Ew. Anyway, be back this afternoon.
Riker
Ps- if you're up by 9:30, turn on GMA! Have fun today.

The "Ew" gave away it was Riker. I should have guessed. I looked at the clock, 9:17. I had time to make something to eat. I kept it simple, cereal with a glass of vanilla silk. I went to the dining room to eat, than took my dishes to the sink. I started clothes through the washing machine, washing mine and Ross'. It was going to be a long day.

I went to the living room and turned on the TV, and went to ABC. My phone was still on the end table, and I picked it up and decided to text Riker and let him know I liked to ew touch to the note. Than texted Ross and let him know I was up. Before I finished his text, Riker texted back with a simple lol. After sending Ross' I replied with a winky face. Ross never texted me back, guess he was busy. Neither did Riker, so I put the phone back down.

When I heard "R5 is up next" on the television, I turned it up. Mindless commercials. Once they ended, it showed outside the TV studio. Introducing R5, so both of them were too busy to reply back to me. They performed one song, than a short interview. I watched girls go crazy every time Ross would speak. My first feeling jealousy, or was it pride? I wasn't sure. Than Riker opened his mouth and started talking about me. I watched Ross' face light up at the sound of my name. Girls stopped screaming. Pride for sure.

"Thanks for bringing that up Riker, we want to talk about that. Everyone wants to know." She went on. "Last we saw you two together was at, umm, the funeral. Is everything okay now?"

Okay? Really? "Well, I'm not sure really." Ross started to speak. "I think she puts off being stronger than she feels."

"You're just mad that she doesn't cry on your shoulder." Riker play punches Ross in the arm. A little offensive. "He tries to be superman for her, and she isn't as vulnerable as she used to be when we met her."

"So she gets along with everyone than?" She asks Riker.

"Yeah, she's kind of funny to have around." I laughed a little. "Well, when Ross doesn't have his face pushed to hers." Ross blushes. I can tell I did too.

"See what I deal with? This never stops." Ross said pointing at Riker.

"I'll answer your question," Rydel leaned forward. Finally. "She's cool. Riker means that she is strong, and after a few days she was smiling again. I mean, we all played music all day yesterday, just about, and she never stopped smiling. It was great to see her smile again. I think we were all a little worried about her, but after the funeral she only broke down a time or two." She pointed at Ross, "this one stays by her side all the time."

"Is she watching this now? Or is she here?"

"It was a long night after playing all day yesterday, so I didn't have the heart to wake her up this morning." He looked at the camera and his eyes burned into mine. "I'm sorry she woke up alone. I love you if you are watching."

I smiled, and a tear rolled down my cheek. An aww broke out in the audience. Ross blew a kiss.

"She seems like a wonderful person." She looked at Ross. "And judging by feed everyone seems to love her too." I just realized I was scared to see what his fans had to say about me. Add that to my to-do-list on my day alone. "That's a shocker given the past."

"What's not to love. She's beautiful, and very sweet." Ross answered her not question. "I think she is perfect. And we all love her." He waved his hand pointing at his family and El. "Even Ryland hangs around more."

"Yeah, he has actually stayed with us a few times. Mom and dad come over all the time too." Riker added. "Mom has kind of taken her under her wing. She loves when she comes over. If Ross isn't holding her hostage, she mingles with everyone."

He camera turned on Stormie and Mark, who were in the front of the stage. She smiled, and I smiled with her. "She's amazing. She makes Ross, and my other kids, happy. She's coming out of her shell. It's amazing to slowly see who she really is."

"She sounds amazing. Maybe we can meet her one time you come in?" She said, looking back at Ross. The crowd went wild.

"Definitely. If I can get her to do it." Ross laughed. "It took her a few days to get comfortable around us, and it was only eight of us." Please say nothing about performing. "She truly is a joy to have around." Everyone nodded when he said that.

It was weird, watching his family talk about me on national television. I got a slight case of the butterflies. I was glad I wasn't there.

"That's amazing. But what about you guys," she said looking at Rocky and El, "is she cool to have around?"

"She's funny for sure." El started to speak. "She isn't afraid to speak her mind, that's for sure. She will tell you what's on her mind."

"And she has an amazing voice." Rocky, you are dead. "She tries to hide that, but we have all heard her sing."

"Well, being in your family, won't take long to come out of that."

"Yeah, but she's taking her time," Ross spoke again. "We are all giving her her time." Ross looked at his siblings with a not a word expression. She didn't notice it. "She is amazing." He turned back to her. "We are just breaking the shell."

"That's amazing. We can't wait to meet her." She smiled looking at Ross. "Well, are you going to do one more song for us?"

They all started to speak at the same time. She announced that there would be one more song after the break. I picked up my phone and sent a group text to them all, even Stormie. "Thank you. You are all amazing. Love you all. You're the best."

I watched the next performance, than got up to put the clothes from the washer to the dryer. When I got back to the living room, my phone was lighting. I had a text back from all of them besides Ross. While reading another came through from Stormie's phone.

"Left my phone inside, but I'm using moms phone. I love you babe. Sorry you woke up alone this morning." Than a few seconds passed, and another came through. "I'll be back soon. Than you are mine today. I love you."

I replied back telling him how much I loved him using the full 160 characters. Than sent another thanking him for not saying anything about the performance. I wanted it to stay a smaller crowd. Here replied back saying he knew, that that's why he stopped Rocky from saying anything else. I thanked him again, than told him I was going to borrow his car and go do some shopping. "Have fun. I love you. See you soon." He replied.

I replied to the other messages, than went and got ready. I grabbed his keys off the hook and put my phone in my purse heading out the door. I drove past my house and parked in the driveway and sat there for a few minutes. I really missed dad, and thinking of dad made me think of mom. I still couldn't go into the house yet. I had decided to keep it. I wasn't living in it, but I didn't have the heart to sell it. I would just clean it out one of these days and rent it out.

I put the car in reverse and pulled out, heading toward the mall. I walked through for hours, missing Ross. A few people stopped and asked me if I was Heather, than walked off smiling. Seeing their smiles made me feel a little better.
