Chapter 40.2.10The gathering of friends had ended on a sour note.
An Shuting followed Sun Yuebai into the carriage, finally shedding the weight of an old matter.
Noticing An Shuting's sense of relief, Sun Yuebai raised an eyebrow and asked casually, "Are you really okay with your confidante just disappearing like that?"
The seemingly casual question sent alarm bells ringing in An Shuting's mind. He placed the basket back on the table built into the carriage wall, clasped his hands together, and begged, "Cousin, please forgive me. I didn't expect to run into them today. Besides, we were just talking like friends."
Sun Yuebai relished the moments when An Shuting let his guard down, displaying a touch of mischief. He smiled, leaned forward, took An Shuting's fingertips in one hand, and caressed his cheek with the other. "But I still care."
"Knowing you once played with those girls makes my heart burn with jealousy. It's uncomfortable," he continued, pressing An Shuting's hand against his chest. Their eyes locked, and An Shuting could feel Sun Yuebai's heartbeat quickening beneath his palm, as if it matched his own.
"That was all in the past," An Shuting said slowly, trying to divert his gaze, but Sun Yuebai gently lifted his chin.
What followed was a long, lingering kiss.
While this wasn't the first time An Shuting had passively accepted Sun Yuebai's advances, it was the first time he reciprocated. Sun Yuebai's kiss was passionate and fierce, while An Shuting's response was tender and gentle.
At some point, the two found themselves nestled together in the cramped carriage. An Shuting's shirt had slipped off, revealing his toned upper body, while Sun Yuebai's coat hung loosely, as he lay comfortably in An Shuting's embrace. His slender fingers traced the firm muscles of An Shuting's chest in a teasing manner.
His voice was low and husky as he leaned close to An Shuting's ear. "I was right; your body is truly captivating."
At that moment, An Shuting's usually calm eyes sparkled with desire. His hands, burning with longing, slipped beneath Sun Yuebai's garments, suddenly gripping his slender waist.
The sounds of shouting pedestrians outside the moving carriage jolted An Shuting back to reality. He closed his eyes momentarily, battling the intense heat rising within him, and managed to whisper, "Stop teasing; we're almost home."
Sun Yuebai could see how clearly affected An Shuting was, yet he struggled to maintain his composure. A mixture of love and frustration coursed through him as he leaned down, planting kisses along An Shuting's lower abdomen.
What transpired inside the carriage remained a mystery. Yangui, sensing the atmosphere, urged the driver on and muffled any signs of trouble with a wad of cotton, taking a roundabout route through the deserted alleys.
When they finally arrived home, it was already dark. Yangui stood beside the carriage, head down, lightly tapping the wall. He caught a glimpse of his prince, tightly wrapped in a black cloak, entering the mansion with An Shuting.
Sun Yuebai had a remarkable knack for seizing opportunities. He seemed to intuitively know how to navigate situations, and sensing An Shuting's affections along with the tangled emotions in his heart, he took advantage of the moment to confirm their relationship.
Wrapped securely in the strong embrace of An Shuting, Sun Yuebai felt an unfamiliar sense of satisfaction for the first time on that winter morning. He kissed An Shuting's eyes softly, then quietly rose to attend court.
