Chapter 99.4.12

Although An Shuting and Zhou Xiaobai agreed not to pursue the matter, the principal still issued a warning. Any future incidents would result in immediate punishment, and the matter would remain a permanent mark on their files.

After leaving the principal's office, Zhou Xiaobai silently followed An Shuting down the corridor, unaware of the students passing by, all with curious eyes.

An Shuting turned into the bathroom on the first floor, and Zhou Xiaobai followed without hesitation.

"Are you feeling sad? Don't you want to forgive them?" An Shuting asked, turning to face him.

Zhou Xiaobai glanced around and realized where he was. "No," he replied softly, his voice always gentle, never revealing his frustrations.

An Shuting said nothing, only sighing quietly as he watched Zhou Xiaobai.

Zhou Xiaobai, feeling exposed, muttered, "I should forgive them, but it feels... uncomfortable."

"Am I a bad person?" he added, his words slipping out before he could stop them, revealing more than he intended.

He looked anxiously at An Shuting, who, to his surprise, reached up and ruffled his hair in a way that felt oddly affectionate, like the gentle gesture given to a kitten. "You're silly, little Kabibala," An Shuting said with a smirk.

Zhou Xiaobai was confused, but An Shuting didn't offer an explanation and walked off to use the bathroom.

On the way back to the classroom, Zhou Xiaobai attempted to ask more questions, but An Shuting remained silent, only looking at him. Despite the lack of words, Zhou Xiaobai felt his mood lifting, inexplicably feeling better.

Meanwhile, Liu Ning, arms crossed with two bottles of Coke in hand, looked around before spotting An Shuting and Zhou Xiaobai coming down the hallway. Grinning, he quickly approached and handed a bottle to Zhou Xiaobai. "Pass the Coke to the boss. The boss will protect me. From now on, you're my big brother."

Before Zhou Xiaobai could react, Liu Ning had already surrounded An Shuting, clearly acting like a loyal follower.

An Shuting raised an eyebrow, but didn't refuse the gesture.

Back in the classroom, Zhou Xiaobai sat down and began taking out his notebook. He noticed the other students were pretending to study, yet stealing glances at him. Even the class monitor, usually the most focused, seemed distracted, glancing over with a mix of curiosity and hesitation.

"Is there something wrong?" Zhou Xiaobai asked, oblivious to their stares. He unscrewed the Coke can and placed it in front of An Shuting before asking the class monitor, who was a pleasant, slightly chubby girl with dimples.

She blinked before leaning in. "Qi Ze and the others are bad-hearted. You shouldn't let them off so easily. But you should definitely stay away from people like that in the future."

Another voice, belonging to a male classmate seated behind her, chimed in, "Yeah! You've got a good temper, but people take advantage of that. If it were me, I wouldn't have stopped until I knocked their teeth out."

"Right!" Several others joined in, sharing their opinions.

Zhou Xiaobai, overwhelmed by the sudden outpouring of support, subconsciously moved closer to An Shuting, but was quickly pushed away by him. "Learn from this. What good comes from enduring everything? If you don't fight back, who will stand up for you? Youth is all about the joy of revenge."

Zhou Xiaobai was taken aback. He always believed kindness and positivity were the way to win over others, but An Shuting clearly thought differently.

He glanced at An Shuting and then at his classmates-people he had only recently begun to understand-and smiled. "Thank you. I'll remember that."

"But how do you know everything so quickly?" Zhou Xiaobai asked, surprised at how quickly word had spread.

Liu Ning, having lost his seat after being pushed aside by his classmates, eagerly leaned in. "Of course, Brother Ting is the best."

He took the opportunity to shove a sports committee member aside and finally found his footing.

"The conversation with the principal and the recording? That was broadcasted to the entire school. Though the teacher in charge of the broadcasting room caught it later, the key parts got through."

"You don't know, but when you said you wanted to forgive them, I almost rushed to the radio room myself to stop you," Liu Ning added, laughing.

Some classmates rolled their eyes. "You could've gone to the principal's office and done it yourself."

Liu Ning shrank back, embarrassed, and retreated to the background.

A student, eager to know more, shouted, "By the way, Brother Ting, how did you manage to get it broadcast to the whole school?"

The excitement in his voice was palpable, but An Shuting wasn't about to share his secrets.

Liu Ning, seizing the moment, said, "Brother Ting didn't make them apologize publicly, but he certainly handled the public execution. You should all learn from him."

Zhou Xiaobai's eyes filled with emotion, blinking back tears as he took in the warmth of his classmates' support.

During the rest of the day, even the teacher showed a new level of sympathy for Zhou Xiaobai.

Zhou Xiaobai felt a joy he hadn't experienced in a long time, listening as his classmates discussed An Shuting's swift and decisive actions on the radio. They praised his kindness and tolerance, while condemning the moral failures of Qi Ze and Li Mudi.

Although An Shuting found their praise exaggerated, he said nothing, feeling a quiet pride when he saw Zhou Xiaobai's smile, his lips curling slightly in appreciation.

But their happiness was short-lived. Before the day ended, both An Shuting and Zhou Xiaobai received a 3,000-word apology letter from the principal.
