Chapter 93.4.06
An Shuting smiled and gestured toward Zhou Xiaobai, who stood beside him. "This is my younger brother. Regardless of any past misunderstandings, I hope everyone will focus on their studies this coming year."
"You may have heard about what happened yesterday. Time is limited in a person's life; don't waste energy on things that don't concern you. If you let distractions take over, your future will suffer."
After delivering his message, An Shuting paid little attention to the reactions around him. He shot a meaningful glance at Luo Feng and Qi Ze, both wearing sour expressions, before leading Zhou Xiaobai to his seat.
Almost everyone in the class avoided Zhou Xiaobai, leaving him isolated beside the trash can. An Shuting noticed the scattered garbage on the table and turned to Luo Feng. "I'm surprised to see you in class today. This is our second meeting, and I appreciate your guidance. It seems your family connections are quite powerful, which explains your confidence in causing trouble here."
"I don't want to dwell on what happened yesterday. As a gesture of apology, I think it would be appropriate for you to help clean up this table."
As the two sides faced off, Luo Feng's parents couldn't overlook the situation. His father, usually strong-willed, was now pleading for his son. While Luo Feng feared physical punishment, the disappointment in his father's eyes hit him harder.
Seeing An Shuting's feigned yet threatening demeanor, Luo Feng clenched his fists, kicked the stool, and stood up. He glared at the onlooking students and angrily swept the trash into the nearby bin.
An Shuting, witnessing his compliance, couldn't help but smile. "This approach is rather childish. If you keep this up, you might end up looking foolish. It's best to be more self-aware in the future."
Though he didn't name anyone, the classroom fell silent. Everyone had witnessed Luo Feng and his minions' antics that morning, so his newfound obedience surprised them all. The notorious bully of No. 1 Middle School now appeared as docile as a kitten in front of the senior.
One of Luo Feng's followers tactfully grabbed a rag and began wiping the table clean. An Shuting said nothing more. He set down his schoolbag and turned to find Zhou Xiaobai watching him with admiration.
"Brother, you're amazing!" Zhou Xiaobai leaned closer to An Shuting, speaking in a hushed voice filled with awe, as if afraid others would hear.
Seeing his younger brother finally come out of his shell, An Shuting ruffled Zhou Xiaobai's hair and placed a yogurt from his schoolbag onto the desk. "Drink more yogurt, and you'll grow braver."
Feeling a sense of pride, An Shuting acknowledged that this kind of confrontation was second nature to him. Though he was the teacher's favorite student, being an orphan had exposed him to bullies throughout his life. Yet, in the end, none of those bullies had managed to teach him a lesson.
Teacher Li had been reported by An Shuting and was now resting at home. The Chinese teacher substituting for the class was the head teacher of Class 5.
He didn't say much about Teacher Li and finished the class quietly. However, the other teachers largely ignored Zhou Xiaobai and An Shuting.
Throughout the morning, there seemed to be an unspoken agreement not to call on Zhou Xiaobai to answer questions. When the students answered in order of their seats, they all deliberately skipped over him, as if he didn't exist in the classroom.
When the bell rang for the final class, students surged out of the room in a flurry. Once everyone had left, Zhou Xiaobai, who had sat up straight all morning, suddenly slumped in his seat.
