"So it really was an elopement," Yu Bai said, gently taking An Shuting's hand away from the back of his neck. He couldn't quite keep up with the younger man's thought process.

"Of course," An Shuting replied, clearly enjoying Yu Bai's surprised reaction. "The person you should never let down in your life is yourself. If you want to do something, you should do it immediately."

As soon as they entered the house, An Shuting noticed Yu Bai's interest in the yard, so he eagerly showed him around. "This is the master bedroom, and this is the guest bedroom."

"We'll stay in the master bedroom, but I'll sleep in the guest bedroom if we ever have a fight," An Shuting added with a playful smile.

He then opened the curtains and removed the white dust cloths from the furniture. Yu Bai helped him, and as he watched An Shuting moving around, he had a fleeting thought that they might be together forever.

Yu Bai paused, then asked, "Do you really think we should live separately after a fight? Wouldn't it just drain both of us emotionally if we used cold silence instead of talking things through?"

The two argued endlessly about it, but at least, by the end of it, the room was clean.

That evening, to celebrate Yu Bai moving into his new home, An Shuting had booked a table at a restaurant.

Before they sat down, the proprietress of the restaurant, Sister Qin, approached with the menu and asked, "Xiao An, you're here to eat with your friends. How's your summer vacation?"

An Shuting smiled and gestured to Yu Bai. "Not bad. Sister Qin, let me introduce you. This is my boyfriend..."

"I'm An Shuting's good friend, Yu Bai," Yu Bai interjected, correcting him.

Sister Qin, now noticing Yu Bai's striking appearance, smiled and teased, "Friends of Xiao Bai, come try my cooking. How old are you? Do you have a partner?"

She had noticed Yu Bai immediately when they entered. He was tall and slender, dressed in a black windbreaker, and his mask only revealed his sharp, cold eyes. When he took it off, his features were striking, like polished jade, and she was instantly attracted to him.

An Shuting, recognizing the familiar signs of Sister Qin's flirtations, frowned slightly. "Sister Qin, this is my friend, and he has a girlfriend. Please don't get any ideas."

Sister Qin playfully hit An Shuting on the shoulder and smiled teasingly. "What do you know, kid? I was just asking. Don't overthink it."

She had a reputation for teasing An Shuting and his friends, and now, she was just reacting to seeing a handsome man. She wasn't trying to ruin anything-she just liked to have a little fun.

An Shuting rolled his eyes, used to her behavior. "Better I overthink it than let you start thinking you can steal my boyfriend."

The three of them were all quite good-looking, and their presence drew attention. When people at the neighboring tables kept glancing over, Yu Bai cleared his throat and said, "Xiao An, weren't you hungry? Let's eat quickly and then head to the supermarket to buy a few more things."

Sister Qin, still amused, smiled at the other customers and then turned back to the group. "What would you like to order?"

An Shuting handed the menu to Yu Bai and expertly made the selections. "Let's have the double-flavored hotpot. Brother Yu can't eat spicy food, so let's get lamb rolls and beef rolls. We both like those. And some mushrooms, because Brother Yu likes them."

After a few more choices, he looked at Yu Bai and asked, "This restaurant's specialty is pig brain. I'm not sure if you'd like it, though."

Yu Bai immediately shook his head. "You can have it. I'll have water spinach instead."
