Chapter 122.5.11
The arrival of the An family didn't disrupt the rhythm of their lives.
An Shuting continued to shuttle between the laboratory and home. Lately, with significant breakthroughs in his work, he had thrown himself entirely into his research.
Meanwhile, Yu Bai had been occupied with something mysterious, clearly feeling a sense of urgency regarding the events that had occurred. An Shuting was glad to see him taking a more active approach to life.
As for the post from that day, it had only caused a stir for a few days before gradually fading away. Aside from a few more curious glances from classmates, the impact on them was minimal. Neither of them was particularly outgoing, so the fuss eventually died down.
One day, as Yu Bai left the library, he was stopped by a man.
"Hello, Mr. Yu. I'm the host of Golden Mediation. If it's convenient, may I have a word with you?"
Yu Bai looked at the well-dressed man in front of him and frowned. "It's not convenient."
He recognized the show, which had gained popularity in recent years, but Yu Bai was not fond of its format. The show often tried to mend broken relationships, convincing women to forgive men who had wronged them or urging estranged children to reconcile with their parents. It seemed to Yu Bai that they encouraged people to put aside their own suffering for the sake of others, ending with what appeared to be happy resolutions but overlooked the emotional toll on those who were forced to compromise.
Xiao Pingxin wasn't surprised by Yu Bai's blunt refusal; it was a common reaction. Most people avoided him or spoke ill of him, yet he had still earned his status as a top mediator.
As Yu Bai turned to leave, Xiao Pingxin called out again. "An Mingcheng, Xu Aihua has already agreed to appear on the show. In fact, it was the couple who initially reached out to us. If you don't participate, the narrative will be one-sided."
He paused, then added, "Are you just going to let them talk about it however they want?"
Yu Bai hesitated, but still didn't look back.
Xiao Pingxin frowned, watching Yu Bai walk away calmly. He didn't believe Yu Bai would be indifferent. "You don't care about An Shuting? Is that it? Don't you care about him at all?"
Yu Bai's grip on the book tightened, but he ignored the man's shout. This time, the situation was worse, but he couldn't let An Shuting be the one standing in front of him again.
Xiao Pingxin had gotten where he was not only through his logical mind and eloquence but also his persistence. He had been shadowing Yu Bai for days, trying to get him on the show, but with the broadcast approaching, Yu Bai still remained indifferent. Xiao Pingxin was beginning to feel the pressure.
In truth, he didn't want Yu Bai on the show at all. Yu Bai was far too subjective, and a guest like him would be completely unpredictable.

Back in the studio, Mother An was watching the staff bustle around, her initial resolve beginning to waver as she felt increasingly uneasy.
"Is it really okay for us to do this?" she asked quietly. "Once the show airs, everyone will know about our little problem."
She felt as though everyone was eyeing her with judgmental stares.
An Shuqi gently pressed a hand to her shoulder. "Mom, even if they talk, we can't just stand by and watch as they mislead our brother. We need to do this, no matter what others say."
A young assistant, who had been delivering drinks to the guests, overheard and was impressed by how composed and handsome An Shuqi appeared. She handed a cup of water to Mother An and said, "You're so kind. Your son may be young and confused now, but he'll definitely thank you in the future."
