WHY ME!!

Chapter 5: Bound by Love and Mystery

Notice to Readers

Dear Readers,

I want to thank you for giving my story a chance, but I have an important message to share. After much reflection, I’ve realized that this story is far from what I hoped it would be. As a new and inexperienced writer, I made many mistakes in this book.

To grow and improve, I’ve decided to start fresh with a new book that reflects the lessons I’ve learned and the research I’ve done to create a better experience for you. I invite you to check out my latest work:

New Book: THE FALLEN HERO

This new story is the beginning of a journey where I aim to craft a world and characters that you can truly connect with. I’m excited for you to explore it and share your thoughts.

Thank you for your understanding and support as I continue to grow as a writer.

Warm regards,
[ @DJ_SIDDIQUI ]

Argus sat up in his bed, his heart still racing, disoriented but reassured by his parents' presence. He looked toward his father, and tears began to well in his eyes. Blinking through the tears, and, without thinking, he threw his arms around him.

As he buried his face in his father's shoulder, a chilling image from the dream flashed through his mind-the sight of his father lying still, lifeless. A shiver ran down his spine, and his grip tightened, holding on as if to anchor himself to this world. Not here, he thought. Not now. This is real, and I won't let anything take it away from me.

Kaelen gave a soft chuckle, though his brows knit in concern. "Son, are you alright?" he murmured, patting Argus's back reassuringly.

Elysia, leaning over with a smile, arched an eyebrow. "Well, isn't this something. Most children go to their mothers for comfort, but it seems my son has chosen his father." She reached out, her hand warm against Argus's back.

The nightmare's shadow melted in their embrace. The familiar scent of his father's tunic, the gentle pressure of his mother's hand-all of it grounded him, reassuring him that this world, and this life, were real. He drew a deep breath, filling his lungs with the morning air. "I'm... I'm okay, Mom. Just a bad dream," he whispered, blinking as sunlight filtered through the window. Birds chirped outside, their soft songs gently weaving into the morning peace.

He looked from his mother to his father, his heart swelling with gratitude. Even something as simple as hearing his father's voice was a blessing he'd never known in his past life. In this world, I have them. I have family. A family I will protect with everything I have.

Argus took a seat, reaching for a piece of bread fresh from the oven. Tearing off a warm, crusty piece, he took a bite, savoring the comforting flavor. This simple morning-sitting here with his family, light streaming through the window, his father's rhythmic carving-felt almost magical. Back then, he thought, I never had mornings like these. No cozy breakfasts, no family waiting for me.

He glanced at his parents, a small smile creeping onto his face as a sense of peace settled over him. Every day here felt like a gift, a second chance he'd never thought possible.

But the memory of the dream flickered back, the unsettling feeling returning to his chest. For a moment, he thought about telling his parents, wondering if they might understand the strange images and the foreboding sense it had left him with. But doubt crept in. It was just a dream, he reasoned, clenching his hands under the table. The ceremony is in two months. If I tell them now, I'll only make everyone worry over something that might be nothing.
