Chapter 13

Kendo sat in her homeroom classroom, staring ahead, not paying much attention. She wasn't even listening to Vlad explain the work studies and how they worked. She was too busy staring at Izuku, who interjected now and then to help explain things a little easier. Technically, He was engaged, but still, it was insane to think about.

Vlad King: I'll be passing out the lists of heroes who chose you now. Choose which one you want to do your work-study with by the end of the day or tomorrow morning. Izuku, do you have anything else to add?

Izuku shook his head.

Vlad King: Alright then. Help me pass out the lists then you can assist the other classes.

Izuku walked to Vlad's desk, picked up half of the stack, and began to pass it out to everyone in Class 1-B. When he got to Kendo, he stopped, noticing she was zoning out.

Izuku: Itsuka? You good?

He reached forward and shook her shoulder, making the poor girl jump.

Kendo: AH! Oh, Izuku... it's you.

She held her chest and sighed, trying to calm herself down. Izuku chuckled and placed her slip down before punching her shoulder softly.

Izuku: Don't be worried about this. Pick who you feel you'll do best with then go with that. Maybe make a list of the heroes here and whittle it down to your top 5 picks, then top 3. Okay?

Kendo stared at the paper for a moment before nodding. Izuku walked away, leaving Kendo to look at the heroes who had chosen her.

After some thought, Kendo slowly but surely shortened her list to the top five, top three, and finally, her top pick: Snake Hero: Uwabami. Once she turned it in, she had the weekend to prepare for the internship and spent the rest of the day packing the necessary items. She stayed in the dorms all of Saturday, declining requests to go out, Sunday, she attempted to reach out to Izuku to hang out, but he had to decline, stating he needed to help Mei and Freddy get some civilians fitted to their Titan and set up some training regiments. She left Monday evening, the suitcase holding her hero suit in hand and a duffel bag of clothes. However, a certain someone would sour her internship...

Uwabami: As you two know, Heroes are allowed to have side jobs. There were a lot of arguments when the world of heroes was first established, but heroes ended up being so popular that the public demanded it. For example, I'm about to film a commercial. Stick around, okay?

Kendo: Well... I was kinda hoping to see something a little more action-y

Momo: No! This sort of attention is something you can't avoid if you're a pro. Besides, she was kind enough to offer her wisdom to an unworthy student.

Kendo smiled, attempting to hide her anger.

Kendo: You got that right...

Momo: So I'll take every lesson she has to give.

Kendo: She's really into this. Okay, but isn't there anything else we can do while you film this commercial?

Uwabami: Do you know why I chose to recruit you two? Any thoughts?
