.Chahat's POV:
The moment we stepped out of the bus. my eyes were mesmerized to see the view.
The haveli, a grand old structure with intricate carvings and vibrant colors, stood tall and proud. The scent of marigolds and sandalwood filled the air, a customary welcome for all of us.
We were to reach here by flights but then all of us planned to come by bus, because we could get more time to spend and that would be fun.
It was already late at night. Arsh didn't leave me alone for a split second, as I was feeling sleepy all the time but the moment I saw the location where we were standing my eyes widened in disbelief. Who told him that I always wanted to have a simple yet elegant wedding with not so modern ideas, and being rooted to our culture.
I could feel the essence of Punjab from that soil, I remember my relatives used to live there so we used to visit punjab to attend weddings or any occasional functions. This place always fascinated me and I always told Papa that I will also get married in Punjab.
Living in the fast paced city, I could never interact with so many people as everybody is so busy with their own lives but here, everyone is so welcoming they have a warmth in their tone and actions and that's why I loved the place.
I felt his hand holding mine as I shifted my gaze to him, he was already looking at my smiling face. His deep brown eyes were shining as if he has acheived something huge. "Did you like it?" He whispered.
"I-I loved it." I told him. "But when did you plan all this? And this doesn't look like a hotel, resort or any place that could be rented so how did you-----
"This was owned by my Naana and Naani ji." He cut me in the middle.
(Naana-Naani: Maternal Grandparents)
"But, you never talked about them?" I furrowed my eyes at him.
"They are no more, but now this place is taken care by my Maama and Maami instead." He answered.
(Mama- Mother's brother / Maami- Mother's sister in law)
I made an 'o' face at his sentence but I was afraid to get introduced to new people again.
"Don't worry they are sweet and fun!" He assured me and we took our steps forward to enter followed by everyone else.
The moment, we entered inside; my steps halted as a bunch of little children came forward, screaming in excitement and gathered around both of us.
