The sun peeking through her curtains made Leilani blink open, squinting at the sudden light invading her eyes. Bringing a hand up to rub the soreness away from her eyes, she let out a satisfied yawn.
She couldn't remember the last time she'd woken up feeling well rested.
Usually her nights were plagued with nightmares and tears, keeping her up all night or mostly half asleep in distress. She would be tossing and turning around, trying to get herself comfortable and desperately wanting to shake that unsettling feeling out of her fucking bones.
However, this night she had slept through the whole night without waking up once. Without having a nightmare. Without that horrible feeling in the pit of her stomach, making her physically sick to the point of where she might throw up. No, there had been none of that this night.
It felt odd waking up like the burden on her shoulders suddenly wasn't there anymore. Leilani quickly realized that she did not mind that feeling. In fact, she craved it.
A soft sigh made her glance down to the male form sleeping comfortably beside her in her bed. His arm was still tightly wrapped around her waist, obviously having no intention of letting go. The mop of dark auburn curls laid sprawled over her pillow and she hesitated before reaching out to gently brush them away from his face.
Managing to pull herself up to a sitting position, Leilani gazed at his sleeping face. A small smile pulled at her lips when he began snoring softly. She was so going to tease him for that later.
She didn't know how long she sat there staring at him, admiring him. Probably longer than necessary, considering she had time to count every single freckle on his face.
A sigh left her lips as she removed her hand, still staring down at him. Leilani then chuckled softly at the way this arse is making her think. "Arsehole"
"Good morning to you too" His husky voice grumbled as he blinked his eyes open, grinning lazily up at her when he noticed her arched brow, immediately matching one and grin widening when she rolled her eyes. "So...mind telling me why I'm an arsehole?"
"Do I have to?" She asked softly, watching his arm as he propped himself up on one elbow.
"No" Ron laughed "I suppose you don't"
"Well good," Leilani replied in satisfaction, turning and folding her legs beneath her. Her eyes dragged over the mess his hair was in, biting back a smile at the way it was sticking out everywhere "I would ask you if you slept well, however considering the state of your hair, i suppose that answers the question"
Ron shrugged, running a hand through his hair and attempting to tame it. He then glanced over to her own head, frowning when there wasn't a single piece of platinum hair out of place. He reached out to tug at a strand, narrowingly avoiding the swat of her hand "How did you sleep?"
Leilani hesitated, then she relaxed finally knowing she could trust him. He knew almost everything already, might as well get it all out "That was the first time i slept through the whole night in two years, Weasley"
He blinked, frowning "You don't usually sleep?"
"Well obviously i do, you idiot" She rolled her eyes fondly "I mean that was the first time i slept without waking up from a nightmare"
"Oh" he said in understanding. Then he smiled and glanced up at her. Reaching out he brushed her hair out of her face and leaned up to kiss her forehead "You're not the only one, sweetheart"
"You get nightmares?"
Ron nodded "Yeah, sometimes I do. Happened a lot right after the war, even in the beginning of the school year"
