Tea parties and memories

Lily was currently sitting at a tea party surrounded by noble ladies. Although she preferred to spend her time reading at home and relaxing. She was running out of books to read and decided to enjoy being allowed to leave her room in this life. She still tried to stay away from large parties and perfected the occasional outing and gathering with a small group.

A few months had passed since her first gathering and she had been invited to more parties than she could count since then. Nice reflecting most of them, Alex convinced her to go to some to show a public appearance. At first, she was reluctant but found the young ladies sweet and calming. They always stared at her in awe and would blush whenever she commented on them. They never acted like they were trying to gain anything from her and seemed to simply enjoy spending time with her. It was nice.

The only thing that wasn't nice was a certain redhead who was constantly throwing hateful looks and insults her way. Of course, she tried covering them up by speaking elegantly, but everyone could always pick up the meaning behind her words. She was the main girl who hated the fact that I was acting like a noble when I was born a commoner. Can't please everyone I guess.

I simply paid her no mind and racked it up to bad parents or jealousy. Mean people usually end up having bad lives. Instead of hate, I always felt pity towards her whenever she got mad and looked like she wanted to break something. A child would only act like that if someone around them growing up did that. Children watched and mimicked. That was something that would be true in any world.

Lily slowly sipped her tea as she listened to Beatrice talk about her little brother's bad habit of getting stuck in trees. Apparently, their mother was in a screaming fit when she found him the first time as it was not proper. All the girls giggled as they chatted and listened with ease.

"So lady Lily. How are you and the crown prince doing?"

One of the girls asked with an innocent giggle. They constantly told her what a great couple they made and wanted to hear stories often. All the girls perked up at her question and all heads turned to Lily. Failing to prevent the small blush that covered her cheeks, she let out a nervous laugh.

"Although he is still often busy with his studies and duties, he tries to come to see me as often as he can. He uses the excuse of taking breaks for his mental health but I'm pretty sure he's just a little lazy."

The girls awwwed and some laughed at her calling the crown prince lazy. She always talked about him like he was just another person and not the future king of the kingdom. It made the girls always think their relationship was closer than it was and that they were both deeply in love. While that might be true for Christopher, Lily wasn't sure if what she was feeling was love. She knew he was hands-on and kind. Not to mention this strange feeling in her chest when he kissed her at the ball. Sadly she had never felt that kind of love before in either life and wasn't sure how to distinguish romantic feelings.

Her mind wandered off to their first meeting after the ball. He sent her a letter and they met up at the castle and took a detour to a waterfall. When they landed and jumped off her familars' backs. Chris had pulled her into his chest and started to kiss her fiercely. She went into another daze for a few minutes as she felt that familiar burn in her chest. When she realized what was happening she pushed him off her and took a deep breath.

"Chris stop kissing me without warning me. You're gonna give me a heart attack." Her face was red and she held a hand on her chest. He smirked at her words and took slow steps towards her.

"So you're saying I can kiss you as long as I give you a warning."

Her head shot up and her eyes went wide at his words. Her face became even brighter as he turned her head away.

"You need to slow down. I only recently found out that my best friend was actually my betrothed. I still haven't forgiven you completely for not telling me the truth. And I need time to think of you as the same person. When you kiss me I forget about you being a prince and my fiance and can only think about Chris is kissing me!"

He pulled her into a hug and buried his face into her neck. "Of course, I plan to court to properly."

Lily froze and blushed even harder. "Co...court me?"

"Mmhmm" Chris mumbled and he nuzzled his head in her neck. "Letters, gifts, and outings. I want everyone to know that you are mine and that we are incredibly happy together."

"For show?"

At her words, he stopped nuzzling in her neck and grabbed her chin to stare into her eyes.

"Liliana, I love you so much and I want the world to know it. I plan on making sure you keep laughing and smiling for the rest of our lives. You deserve the world and I plan on giving it to you."

Lily's face reddened at the memory and the other girls gushed at how cute she was. Denying to mention what she was thinking about that made her so flustered. The girls gave in and they began and light happy chatter once more.

Deciding to avoid thoughts of handsome boys, kisses, and love confessions. She began eating her strawberry cake covered in sweet whipped cream. The desserts might not taste as great as the ones back in her previous life, but they always looked so beautifully made.
