After hearing raised voices from inside the room, we all decided to check what was happening. The moment we walked in, the scene before us became clear. Mingyu stood awkwardly, avoiding everyone’s gaze, while Millie was on her knees, sobbing uncontrollably.
It didn’t take long for us to piece everything together. Mingyu had cheated on her.
As I stood there, watching her broken figure on the floor, I felt a strange sense of calm. Her tears… they felt like music to my ears.
Karma never fails, I thought. What your brother did to my family is nothing compared to what’s happening to you right now. You don’t deserve happiness.
Everyone around me was murmuring, debating what to do next. Some suggested comforting her, others were busy throwing accusations at Mingyu. But I didn’t hesitate. I already knew what I wanted.
“I’ll marry her,” I said confidently, cutting through the noise.
The room fell silent. All eyes turned to me, shock evident on their faces. Even Millie’s tear-streaked face lifted, her wide eyes filled with disbelief.
Mr. Jeon, after a moment of hesitation, cleared his throat. “Everyone, leave the room. I’ll speak with her alone.”
As I stepped outside, my mind began racing. Will she accept this proposal? No, she wouldn’t. Why would she? It made no sense for her to agree.
I leaned against the wall, lost in thought, when Jungkook approached me. His expression was tense, his jaw clenched. “Stop this already!” he hissed, his voice low but sharp. “Don’t you dare drag her into this.”
I raised an eyebrow, feigning innocence. “What are you talking about?”
“You know exactly what I’m talking about,” he snapped, stepping closer. “Don’t involve her in your revenge. She has nothing to do with this!”
“Stay out of my business,” I retorted coldly. “Business? She’s my sister!” His voice rose slightly, frustration evident. “I have every right to stop you!”
I scoffed. “And what about my family, Jungkook? What about what you did to us? You ruined us!”
Jungkook’s expression shifted, his anger giving way to something more pained. “You don’t even know the truth. You’ve never bothered to understand what really happened. You’ve clung to your hatred, blind to everything else.”
“Enough!” I shouted, cutting him off. “You and your family are nothing but liars!”
Flashback
I stormed into the hospital, my heart pounding with fear and anger. My parents were standing by the reception desk, their faces pale and tear-streaked.
“Taehyung,” my mom whispered, her voice trembling. “Ava… she’s…”
I didn’t wait for her to finish. I ran toward Ava’s room, pushing open the door. There she was, lying so still on the hospital bed, her face pale, her body connected to countless machines.
“Doctor!” I yelled, my voice cracking. “What happened to her?”
The doctor approached me with a grim expression. “She was in a severe accident. She sustained critical head injuries and… fell into a coma.”
I turned away, my fists clenched, refusing to cry. I couldn’t break down. Not here. When I stepped back into the hallway, I found my mom waiting for me. “Where’s Jungkook?” I demanded.
