Taehyung

I sat in my office, my eyes fixed on the documents in front of me, but my mind was elsewhere. The meeting earlier had been a success, but I couldn’t focus on any of it. My thoughts kept wandering to her—Millie.

Damn it. Her face, her voice, her very presence had taken over my thoughts, and it was driving me insane. I hated how she lingered in my mind, how I couldn’t seem to shake her off no matter how hard I tried.

Frustrated, I ran a hand through my hair, leaning back in my chair. I was Kim Taehyung, the CEO of a major corporation. I didn’t let anyone occupy my thoughts like this. And yet, here I was, consumed by her.

Letting out a sigh, I stood and walked over to the window, staring out at the city lights. Maybe I just needed to see her, to clear the storm brewing in my chest.

Just then, my phone buzzed on my desk. I picked it up, relieved for a distraction. It was my assistant calling.

“Sir, we’ve finalized the details for the project. You’ll need to travel to Paris for the business trip,” he informed me.

“Fine,” I replied curtly. “I’ll handle the arrangements.”

After ending the call, I couldn’t help but feel agitated. Even the idea of a business trip didn’t excite me. I needed to step away and clear my head.

I decided to head home, hoping the drive would help me regain my composure. But as I entered the house, I immediately sensed something was wrong.

The air was heavy, filled with an unspoken tension that made my heart pound. I rushed to the bedroom, only to find her standing in front of the dresser, her back to me.

Her clothes were torn, and she was hurriedly changing into a fresh outfit. My chest tightened as I realized something terrible had happened.

“Millie,” I said, my voice soft yet filled with urgency. “What happened?”

She froze but didn’t turn around. “N-nothing,” she stammered.

I stepped closer, my tone hardening. “You're going to tell me who did this to you, or I'll find out myself. And trust me, you don't want that.”

Her shoulders trembled, but she shook her head. “It’s nothing,” she whispered.

“When I told you not to go today, why didn’t you listen?” I asked, trying to keep my anger in check.

“I… I don’t know if I should say,” she muttered, her voice barely audible.

“You’re going to tell me,” I said firmly, “one way or another.”

After a long pause, she finally spoke. “I was walking back from the hospital… and someone grabbed me from behind. He was drunk.”

My hands clenched into fists. “Did he hurt you?”

Tears welled up in her eyes as she nodded. “Y-yes. He… he tore my clothes.”

Rage boiled inside me, but I took a deep breath, trying to keep myself calm for her sake. “Change your clothes,” I said gently. “We’re going to the police station.”

She hesitated but eventually nodded. Once she was dressed, I guided her to the car and drove straight to the station.

The officers initially seemed skeptical, but I wasn’t about to let this go. Slamming my fist on the desk, I demanded their attention. “I’m here to report an assault.”

The officer on duty quickly straightened up, taking down every detail Millie shared. His expression grew serious as she spoke, and he assured us they would do everything possible to catch the man.

It didn’t take long for them to track him down. When they brought him in, I felt my blood boil all over again. The man had the audacity to sneer at me, but I didn’t flinch.

“You’re going to apologize to her,” I said, my voice icy. The man looked at Millie, shame flickering in his eyes as he mumbled an apology. But it wasn’t enough.

Without thinking, I swung a punch, my fist connecting with his jaw. He fell to the ground, and the officers rushed to pull me back.

“Taehyung, it’s okay,” Millie said softly, placing a hand on my arm.

“No, it’s not,” I growled. “No one hurts you and gets away with it.”

When we finally returned home, my mom was waiting for us, her face filled with worry.

“Taehyung, Millie, what happened?” she asked.

I explained everything, from the attack to our visit to the police station. Mom listened silently, her concern growing with every word.

“You’ve both been through so much,” she said softly. “You need to rest and recover. But… I’ve been thinking.”

I frowned, sensing she was about to say something unexpected.

“You two never had a proper honeymoon,” she continued. “So I’ve planned a trip for you both.”

“Mom—” I started, but she cut me off.

“No arguments. You need this, Taehyung. You need a break. Both of you do.”

“Actually,” I said, trying to find an excuse, “I have a business trip to Paris coming up. Maybe we can postpone the honeymoon.”

Mom’s eyes lit up. “Perfect! Then your honeymoon will be in Paris. I’ll make all the arrangements.”

Millie tried to protest, but Mom was already walking away, her mind set. And just like that, I realized there was no getting out of this. Paris it was.
