Millie

As I stepped into the house, the familiar warmth enveloped me, wrapping around me like a comforting blanket. It was supposed to feel like relief, but instead, there was an aching emptiness in my chest, a quiet sadness that wouldn't leave me alone.

Jungkook was the first to notice me standing in the doorway. He was lounging on the couch, scrolling through his phone, but as soon as his eyes landed on me, his expression shifted to concern.

"Millie, what's wrong?" he asked, his voice gentle yet full of worry.

I tried to brush it off, offering a small smile that I hoped would reassure him.

"I'm fine, Jeon. I just missed you guys, that's all," I replied, but I could tell he wasn’t convinced. His sharp eyes scanned me carefully, noting the puffiness of my eyes and the suitcase in my hand.

"You’re not fine, Millie. Your eyes are all red, and you’ve got a suitcase with you. What's going on?" he pressed, concern evident in his voice.

A lump formed in my throat, and I struggled to keep my emotions in check. I didn't want to break down in front of him. Not yet. Not until I could understand everything myself.

"I just needed to come home, okay?" I whispered, my voice tight. "I’ll tell you everything later, I promise."

He looked at me with skepticism, but after a moment, he didn’t push further. Instead, he stood up and walked over to me, his arms opening for a hug. I stepped into his embrace, trying to focus on the warmth of his body, but the ache in my chest wouldn’t subside.

"Thanks," I murmured, my voice barely above a whisper.

He pulled back, still studying me with concern. "You’re sure you’re okay?"

"I’m just tired, that’s all," I replied, trying to sound more convincing than I felt.

"Okay, rest well," he said, stepping back and giving me some space. I nodded and turned to head upstairs, but I paused just before I reached the stairs.

"Jeon... don’t tell Eomma or Appa that I came back. They’ll see in the morning," I said, my voice a little more urgent.

He nodded in agreement without question. "Got it."

With that, I turned and walked upstairs, leaving Jungkook to wonder what was really going on.

The next morning, I made my way downstairs to breakfast, greeted by the comforting sight of my parents sitting at the dining table, chatting and sipping their coffee. The smell of freshly cooked food filled the air, and for a moment, it felt like nothing had changed.

"Millie-ya, when did you come?" Eomma exclaimed, her face lighting up as she jumped up from her seat to wrap me in a tight hug.

"Look who's home," Appa said, his voice filled with warmth.

I smiled faintly, trying to push away the guilt that gnawed at me. "I missed you guys. I wanted to spend some time with you."

Eomma, frowned slightly as she pulled back. "Why didn’t Taehyung come with you? You came alone?"

I hesitated, the words caught in my throat. "Uh, Eomma, he's busy. So I just came by myself."
