Millie
The cool breeze on Dongsan Bridge carried a quiet sadness as I stood there, staring at the vast expanse of the Han River stretching before me. The skyline of Seoul shimmered with the fading light of the setting sun, painting the sky in soft hues of pink and orange. I had always found peace here, but today, everything felt different. The beauty of the view didn’t soothe me—it only reminded me of the emptiness that lingered in my heart.
As I leaned against the railing, my thoughts drifted back to Taehyung. Despite all that had happened—despite everything that I had learned about his feelings and his betrayal—part of me still clung to the memories of the good times. The love I thought we shared. My heart ached with every thought of him, the pain of unspoken words and actions that never aligned with what I believed to be true.
You loved me, Taehyung... then why didn’t you just confess?
I closed my eyes, the wind gently tugging at my hair, wishing I could turn back time. What if he had been honest with me from the start? What if everything could have been different?
Suddenly, I heard it—a faint voice, calling my name.
"Millie..."
I turned around, my heart jumping at the sound. My breath caught in my throat, but when I saw no one, I chalked it up to my mind playing tricks on me. I was lost in thought, and my mind was filled with images of Taehyung, of everything we had been through.
But then, the voice came again, clearer this time. Stronger. Louder.
"Millie..."
My pulse quickened, and I spun around, the sudden rush of adrenaline making my heart race. There, running toward me with all the urgency in the world, was Taehyung. His face was a mixture of pain and determination, his eyes fixed on me as if nothing else mattered.
I felt my breath catch as he closed the distance between us. He was panting heavily, chest rising and falling with each breath, his eyes locked on mine. There was a fire in his gaze—an urgency that both terrified and captivated me. As he reached me, he didn’t hesitate. He pulled me into a hug so tight that it almost took my breath away. His body trembled in my arms as he buried his face in my neck, and I felt the wetness of his tears soak through my skin.
At first, I stood frozen, not knowing what to do. His sobs racked through his body, and I instinctively wrapped my arms around him, holding him close. In that moment, everything else melted away. I could feel the weight of his sorrow, the rawness of his regret.
"I’m so sorry, Millie," Taehyung whispered between his sobs, his voice breaking. "I’m so sorry for everything. I was wrong. I was wrong to use you, to make you a pawn in my revenge. I never saw the love you had for me. I never appreciated you for who you are."
His words were filled with pain, and I could feel his heart breaking with every syllable. As much as I wanted to be angry, to tell him everything I’d been holding in, I couldn’t. My heart couldn’t ignore the sincerity in his voice, the deep regret behind his actions.
"I’m sorry for everything, Millie," he continued, his tears falling freely. "For not being there when you needed me, for not loving you the way you deserved to be loved. Please, forgive me. Please don’t leave me."
His words shattered the walls I had built around myself, and I felt the tears threaten to spill from my own eyes. I wanted to tell him everything—that I was hurt, that I felt betrayed, that I deserved so much more. But as he cried, the part of me that loved him couldn't ignore the depth of his pain. Still, I had to protect myself.
