Millie
I lay in bed, trembling as the weight of his words crushed me. "You're free now, Millie. Just leave me forever. I don’t want anything from you now." The words echoed over and over in my mind, relentless and unforgiving. How could he say that? How could he throw away everything so easily? I thought about all the times I had tried to make him happy, tried to make this work between us. And this was the thanks I got?
My chest tightened as a flood of emotions swirled inside me. Hurt, anger, disbelief—every feeling coiled into a sharp pain that made it harder to breathe. I cried harder, for the love I had given him, for the love he had turned away. I cried for the pain he had caused, for the way he had made me feel like I was nothing.
I couldn’t understand it. I loved him with all my heart, with every fiber of my being, and yet, he didn’t feel the same. He didn’t care about me, about my feelings, or anything that mattered to me. The thought of it felt like a cold knife to my heart, and I couldn’t breathe under the weight of it all.
Tears streamed down my face, my body wracked with sobs as I felt my heart break into a thousand pieces. I cried for the love I had lost, for the part of me that had died with him. And I cried for the painful truth that maybe he had never truly cared.
As the hours dragged on, my tears slowly began to dry, but the pain lingered, settling deep in my chest. I knew it would take time to heal, to forget him, to move past all the beautiful moments we once shared. But I was determined. I had to move on. I had to find a way to find happiness without him.
I didn’t know if I could, but I had no choice. I couldn’t stay here a second longer. I couldn’t bear being in the same house as him, living in the same space that held too many memories, too much hurt.
I quickly threw off the covers and climbed out of bed, my hands shaking as I grabbed my suitcase from the corner of the room. I couldn’t even stop to think. I just needed to leave. I hastily stuffed my clothes inside, wiping away the tears that blurred my vision.
I didn’t care about anything else. All I wanted was to get out of there.
As I zipped the suitcase shut, I took a final glance around the room. My eyes lingered on the door to his room, and a sharp pang of sadness hit me. Did he even care? Did he think of me, even for a moment? I slowly made my way to his door, my heart pounding in my chest.
When I opened the door, I saw him sitting on the bed, his back to me. He didn’t even flinch, didn’t even acknowledge my presence. It was like I wasn’t even there.
A wave of sadness and hurt washed over me. How could he be so indifferent? How could he act like nothing mattered? I stood there frozen, staring at him, but he didn’t move, didn’t say a word. The silence between us felt like an insurmountable distance. And in that moment, I knew. He really didn’t care. Not about me, not about us.
With a heavy heart, I turned and walked away, my footsteps feeling hollow as I left him behind. I closed the door softly, the finality of it settling in. I was done. And as I walked away, I knew it was time to move on.

I stood on the balcony of my room, my eyes fixed on the door, listening to the sound of it closing softly. I knew she was leaving. And despite everything I had said, a part of me felt like it was being ripped apart.
Why did it hurt so much? I had told her to go. I had pushed her away, convinced myself it was the right thing to do. But now, watching her walk away, a wave of sadness crashed over me.
It didn’t make sense. I was the one who had pushed her, who had rejected her. And yet, now that she was leaving, it felt like something inside of me was breaking. And then it hit me. The truth I had been too afraid to face for so long.
I loved her.
I loved her more than anything. More than I ever realized. The moment those words hit me, I felt like the ground had slipped out from beneath me. I had been running from my feelings, trying to bury them, but I couldn’t anymore. I had pushed her away, and now she was gone.
I could feel the tears start to burn at the corners of my eyes, but I tried to hold them back. It was useless. I let them fall freely, each one a reminder of my mistake.
"I love you, Millie," I whispered, my voice shaky with emotion. "I love you more than I know how to say. I care about you... it's wrong for you to think I don’t feel anything. My heart beats faster every time I see you, every time I think about you. But I was too afraid. I don’t know what I was doing... I don’t know why I had to hurt you."
I sank to my knees, the weight of everything pressing down on me. I didn’t know how long I stayed there, but it felt like hours, the sobs wracking my body, taking over every part of me. I couldn’t stop it, couldn’t hold it back anymore. My heart felt like it was shattering.
I didn’t know how I was going to fix this. I didn’t know if I could. I had lost her. And as I sat there, alone in the emptiness of my room, I realized that I might never get her back.
Eventually, exhaustion took over, and I curled up on the cold floor, my body still shaking with the aftermath of my tears. The pain wasn’t gone. It never would be, not now. I had pushed away the only person who had ever mattered. And now, all I had left was regret.
