As the ambulance pulled away, I watched Ofreigha's pale face, her eyes closed, her breathing shallow.
I couldn't shake the feeling of guilt. We arrived at the Family Doctor's, And I was also given an IV.
The hospital room is a small, clean space that felt like a prison.
Amplifying the quiet hum of the machines and the rhythmic beeping of the heart monitor beside the bed.My eyes drifted to the other bed, where Ofreigha lay sleeping, her face pale, her arm bandaged, an IV line snaking into her hand.
An oxygen tank hummed beside her."She's still sleeping," I whispered, my voice barely a murmur.
"I hope she's okay."I couldn't help but feel a wave of guilt and sympathy wash over me. I had dragged her out in the heat, and now she was here, fighting for her health.
A knock on the door startled me. The Mr. Wayne Academy guy opened it, revealing a tall, tan guy with a worried expression.
He immediately approached Ofreigha, his face pale, his eyes filled with concern.
He gently kissed her hand, his lips lingering for a moment. Then a woman with black hair, the one who had been with Ofreigha earlier, burst into tears. She hurriedly approached Ofreigha and kissed her other hand, her sobs echoing in the quiet room.
Riel, sensing my confusion, leaned closer and whispered,
"Those are twins, Asha and Jayson Dom. Jayson is Ofreigha's boyfriend, and Asha is her best friend."Another knock on the door.
This time, it was Marie, her face sporting a band-aid on her cheek.
She approached me, her eyes filled with concern."Everything will be okay," she said, her voice soft and reassuring.
She then glanced at the Mr. Wayne Academy guy, who was now standing in a corner, his expression blank.
"Dad! I mean Damian! We have something to discuss about the upcoming projects for the club," she said, her voice firm.
She then pulled Damian out of the room, leaving me alone with Riel and the twins. Then the door burst open with a bang, and Thyron stormed into the room, his face a mask of fury.
His eyes, blazing with rage, locked onto Riel, and he lunged forward, his fist clenched tight.
"You!" he roared, his voice thick with venom.
"What the hell did you do to my sister?" Riel stood his ground, his gaze unwavering, but a flicker of fear crossed his eyes. Before Thyron could punch,
Jayson, stepped in front of him, his hand intercepting the blow with a resounding crack. The twins then kicked Thyron out of the room.
In the corner of the room, where Jayson and Riel were talking in hushed tones.
I couldn't hear them, but their expressions were serious, their voices filled with concern.I wondered what they were discussing.
The door creaked open, and a nurse entered the room, her face a mask of professional concern.
She checked my vitals, her fingers pressing against my wrist, her eyes scanning the readings on the monitor.
She smiled reassuringly.
"You're doing well, Ms. Miexha. Your vitals are stable. I'm going to remove your IV now."She gently detached the needle from my arm, her movements gentle and precise.
Then, she turned her attention to Ofreigha, adjusting the IV line and checking the oxygen flow."You can go now, Miexha," she said, her voice soft.
"You're free to leave."I nodded, feeling a surge of relief.
I had been in the hospital for 6 hours, recovering from a minor shock.
I am glad to be able to get back to Green Garden and rest.Riel and Jayson approached me, their faces etched with concern.
"Are you okay, Mimi?" Riel asked, his voice a low rumble.
"You look pale.""I'm fine," I said, trying to smile.
"Just a bit tired.""You... rest." Jayson said, his voice filled with concern.
I nodded, feeling a wave of gratitude wash over me.
I was so grateful for their support, their kindness, their friendship. As we walked out of the hospital room, I couldn't help but glance back at Ofreigha, her face still pale, her breathing shallow.
I hoped she would be okay.
I hoped she would recover.
