Zatariel Wov
His Pov
The midday sun streamed through the windows of the Student Council office, casting long shadows across the polished mahogany table.
I pushed open the door, the familiar scent of old books and polished wood filling my nostrils.
It was lunchtime, and I had made my way to the Student Council room, a space that held both fond memories and a lingering sense of regret.
As the former president, I had the responsibility to welcome the new president, Ofreigha Sebastian, Thyron's sister.
She's a striking young woman, with scarlet hair like her brother's, but with a personality that was the complete opposite.
She's quiet, reserved, her eyes reflecting a quiet intelligence and a hint of apprehension.
And She's now the new Student Council President, taking over the reins from me, the reigning king of this little kingdom.
"Alright, Ofreigha," I said, leaning back in my chair, my gaze sweeping across the student council room.
"It's your turn now.""Thank you for your warm welcome. I didn't expect to be seated here, since I'm a transferee. I'll give my shot to be worth it for this position," she said, her voice soft but firm, her words carrying a weight that belied her youth.
"I've left you a few projects," I said, my voice laced with a hint of playful teasing.
"The art gallery, for one. It's up and running, but it could use a few tweaks. And then there's the rooftop in green garden. It's about 66% done, but it needs some serious attention. No florals, mind you. We're going for a minimalist, zen vibe. Think succulents, cacti, and maybe a few strategically placed bonsai trees.""But... I don't know anything about running an art gallery," she said, her voice filled with a hint of panic.
"Or managing a rooftop construction.""Relax," I said, waving my hand dismissively.
"Jay's already set up a system for the art gallery. He's got all the administrative stuff under control. You just need to make sure the place is running smoothly, that the students are happy, and that the art is being displayed properly. And for the rooftop garden, well, just make sure the plants are watered and pruned. And no florals. I repeat, no florals. I'm not going to have floral nightmares for the rest of my life."I chuckled, shaking my head.
I couldn't help but be a little bit amused by her anxiety.
She was so sweet, so innocent, so eager to please.
It was no wonder Jay, the current Vice President, had been charmed by her.I noticed his gaze lingering on her, an intensity that was both admiring and possessive.
It was almost as if he was trying to memorize every detail of her, from the way her scarlet hair bounced to the way her eyes crinkled when she smiled.Jayson Dom- A tech genius who had chosen to remain in his year instead of accelerating, his decision that had always puzzled me.
"Don't worry," Jay said, his voice softening.
"You'll do great. You're a natural leader. You've got this.""I'm graduating this year," I said, a hint of sadness creeping into my voice.
"I'm moving on to bigger and better things. Ofreigha, Jay Make sure you don't let the art gallery turn into a flower shop, and that the rooftop garden doesn't become a floral jungle.""I won't," she said, her eyes sparkling with determination.
"I promise."I smiled, feeling a surge of pride. She was going to be a great Student Council President.
She was going to make a difference."I've also reformed the ridiculous politics and traditions of the Student Council," I added, a mischievous grin spreading across my face.
"So, you and the one who sits next to you won't be having scars or nightmares. No more forced smiles, no more awkward handshakes, no more pointless meetings. Just a good old-fashioned student government, the way it should be."
She laughed, her eyes crinkling at the corners.
"Thank you, Zatariel," she said.
"You've made my life a lot easier."Suddenly, the memory of the upcoming International Examination (IE) jolted me back to reality.
The IE, a grueling test that determined the top five students in the academy, was just a month away.
The top five students were granted a coveted spot in the Green House, along with other special perks and privileges.
The academy had been around for 52 years, and the IE program had been in place for 26 years, shaping the lives of countless students.
I patted Ofri's arm, my touch a gesture of encouragement and a reminder of the responsibility that lay ahead.
"Pass the IE," I said, my voice low but firm, my words carrying the weight of experience.
"Every student council president who sat in this chair was a top scorer in the IE, except for me. I failed to live up to the expectations, but you have the chance to make your mark. Now go out there and make me proud.""I paused, I was the first student council president who had failed to achieve the highest score.
Ofreigha nodded, her eyes shining with determination.
"I will."
I watched as she walked towards the door, her scarlet hair bouncing as she went."She's going to be amazing," I thought to myself, a smile spreading across my face.
"She's going to change the world," Jay chimed in, then, with a mischievous grin, dragged me out of the room, muttering something about
"What happened last night."Before the bell rang, signaling the end of the lunch break, I had told Jay about the poker game with Mr. Hamilton last night, he just listens and telling me that he had bypass the security system, and he's now in control.
I walked back to the Green House, my mind filled with a mix of memories, anxieties, and a lingering sense of responsibility.
