NAYEON'S POV
"CEO Im, President Im's secretary just called. There's an urgent conference meeting with the departments of heads at exactly 9 a.m. today." My secretary said, her voice crisp with formality.
I turned sharply in my chair, catching her off guard as she spoke.
I hadn't heard her enter the office.
I was too absorbed in typing on my computer, the screen before me all-consuming.
"Why so sudden? I haven't even received any notice about the meeting, Ms. Hwang. Or did you just forget to tell me beforehand?" I raised an eyebrow, not hiding my annoyance as I looked at her across the desk.
"I only received the call just a minute ago, CEO Im." She explained, her expression apologetic but matter-of-fact.
I let out a frustrated sigh.
"What's all the fuss about? Did something happen, did the whole department just...die, or something?" I muttered as I shifted my attention back to the screen, though I wasn't really expecting an answer.
"No, CEO Im. It's about the new project in Greece." She replied quickly.
I stopped typing immediately, my fingers frozen on the keys.
The IMC had expanded into Athens, Greece, and we were set to build a hotel there.
We'd been working tirelessly on the project, ensuring everything was in place before construction began.
I'd already visited Greece twice for the final site inspections and to settle other logistics.
"Alright, so what's the problem, Ms. Hwang? Is something wrong with the project?" I asked, genuinely confused by the urgency of this sudden meeting.
As far as I knew, everything was running smoothly.
Yes, securing investors for the project had been difficult, but IMC was more than capable of standing on its own.
A lack of external funding wasn't a crisis for us, not by any stretch of the imagination.
"A certain business tycoon is interested in investing a significant amount of money in the project, CEO Im." Her answer took me by surprise.
My head snapped up, my focus shifting entirely to her now.
"I thought Father wasn't accepting investors for this anymore? Who is this person, Ms. Hwang?" My tone grew more curious.
I knew my father.
He wasn't the one to take risks with business partnerships. His reputation for thorough background checks and meticulous due diligence was well-known, and rightfully so.
Over the years, his instincts had built IMC into one of the most successful and respected hotel chains in the world.
If he had decided against taking outside investments for the Greece project, there had to be a reason—he wouldn't have made such a decision lightly.
"I don't have all the details yet, CEO Im, but the investor is someone with a strong track record in international real estate, is what his secretary had mentioned." Ms. Hwang said and shifted slightly, her hands clasped behind her back.
I nodded slowly, processing the information.
"Alright, remind me ten minutes before the meeting starts. You can leave now," I said, watching as she bowed and exited the office.
I leaned back in my chair, exhaling deeply.
I had hoped to get some time to myself this morning.
Jennie and I had planned on a shopping spree, something to relax after a hectic week.
