"Does this jacket make me look poofy?"

Hae-jo's attention shifted from the black leather jacket in his hands to her, brow raised as his lips upturned into an amused smile.

''What are you wearing?" he asked, stifling his amused chuckle.

Hee-won was adorned in a puffy jacket three times her size. It was a terrible shade of cream, and it had bubbled and puffed across the length of her arms and torso, making her look like a walking talking marshmallow.

''What? You don't think it looks cute?" she teased, lips pulling into a mock pout as she pulled it tighter around her body and struck a silly pose. The smile he sent her way was enough for her to crack one of her own.

Since the incident on the train neither had brought up the other's disappearance but there was a mutual understanding hanging in the air. They both lived in a constant state of self-isolation and pretending to ignore their problems and shitty lives than actually encountering it. This mentality had been a backbone of their problematic coping mechanism. So, neither brought it up again and instead they found themselves once again choosing to push it way out of their minds and explore a market because Hee-won needed new shoes as hers were filthy from their trek across the country and Hae-jo couldn't say no to her.

As they strolled through the narrow market, stalls bustling on either side of them with people flocking in every direction, some brushing shoulders as they breezed past from vendor to vendor. Hee-won slowed to a stop when she noticed a pretty cardigan which Hae-jo paid for without another word and simultaneously found himself a new shirt and jacket. They continued their meander through the market, raising their voices over loud chatter and shooting the owners friendly smiles, store to store they laughed, trying on silly hats and playing with silly toys.
