"Close your eyes"
The wind nipped playfully at her reddening nose, small snowflakes the size of her nail dusted her black hair with sprinkles of white and imprinted on the pink of her cheeks. A shiver ran down her spine, a pleasant one, one that cooled the burning in her heart and ache in her bones.
Hee-won hid her growing smile behind the thick wooly scarf wrapped twice around her neck. "'Why? You're not going to kill me are you?" she mused, a feeling of nostalgia flooding her veins like warm chocolate and summer rays.
Hae-jo chuckled, a happy sound that absorbed in the snow. The frigid air fanned his pale face, brushing against flushed cheeks, sparkling like the amusement in his eyes. His warm hands, both wrapped in a thick pair of gloves lifted to cover her eyes. He leaned down from behind her, lips tinted a slight blue, brushed with a shiver against her ear. "Why would I do such an ugly thing to such a beautiful woman?"
Hee-won felt the tension lining her shoulders ebb, relaxing in his grip prompting him to lower his hands from her face, trusting her to not peak. He guided her gloved hands in his and led her slowly through the white forest. She trusted him blindly and followed eagerly.
They had been on the road for several days, from trying different restaurants. Stopping at every bakery along the way because Hee-won insisted, turning Hae-jo's jeep into a cozy makeshift hotel, to beach trips and many many sunsets. They did it all. They saw it all. And they did it together.
"Where are we going?" she asked, her feet lifting heavily to trail after him. It was freezing but Hae-jo had layered her up in every article of clothing he could find. From the beanie that sat upon her curls, to the scarf and sweaters and thick coat, the mittens and layered socks. She felt like a walking, talking, blanket.
