It was the first snow when it happened. Setting the scene between two cherry blossom trees coated in a thin spotted sheen of white that laid bare for the pivotal moment in their lives. A day supposedly of new  beginnings , of love and memories.

But as they stood opposite each other, the gap not wide but impossibly so, the first snowflake fell between them and melted into the ground before another could fall- it symbolized none of that. It was a day of anger, heartbreak, vile words and bitter endings.

The snow fell and their love fell with it.

"This is getting old Hee-won" he told her. Masking the tear in his heart behind his thick coat and wooly scarf. "You're high maintenance and quite frankly I've grown bored"

"As if you're so easy to deal with " she returned, her tone as cold as the snow falling around them. Her words drifting into the air like the cloud forming around her mouth as the scarf she had given him the day they had met wrapped around her neck like a noose. He would be the death of her, not her breaking heart. " You're just a selfish boy with abandonment and daddy issues" her eyes were glinting with snowfalls of pain.

"Isn't that typical of you Hae-jo" she bit back harshly. " You have your head so far up your ass you don't think about anyone but yourself. "

"You're no better Hee-won. You're so afraid of committing because you're so worried that you'll drop dead anytime isn't it. So you push everyone away and you don't let them get close. Like a coward" his words were as sharp as the ice forming at their feet.

"If anyone is a coward it's you Hae-jo" she quipped. " You're a pitiful excuse of a man. So what if your dad didn't love you, my mother didn't love me. Who gives a fck. It never mattered because we had each other but you couldn't handle the thought that someone actually gives enough shits about you to stay. That someone actually loves you so you abandon them before they can do it to you. That's textbook definition of cowardly. "
