LYRA'S P.O.V.
FIVE YEARS LATER
You might think that after five years of mostly the same routine I would have gotten used to it by now but it wasn't the case, actually I was too relaxed for someone who has fifteen minutes to be in a meeting but alas!
There was no meeting without the boss, and I am the boss. I finished doing my hair and pulled it into a ponytail before heading for the car
"Zayn" I called out "... Zayn, where are you? I'm running late for a meeting" I looked around the mansion but he was absolutely nowhere to be seen "... Nana!" I called out for his nanny and just like a ghost she appeared with a brimming smile on her face "... You need to stop doing that, where's Zayn?"
"The car"
"Thank you" I walked out while reading a document and walked into the car to see Zayn and Luca having a very heated argument "... What's going on?" I looked at both of them curiously and they looked at me
"Good morning mummy"
"Good morning ma'am" They both said at the same time and I was still looking at them to give me answers and Zayn let out a sigh
"Luca claims the best game in the world is football and I told him basketball is more fun but he wouldn't agree, can you fire him mum?" He looked at me with puppy eyes and Luca glared at him from the rare mirror
This was my son and driver arguing about the silliest thing all the damn time and they both never back down on each other
"I'm not firing anyone..." Luca let out a smirk "... But basketball is better than football"
"Just wonderful" He groaned and both of us burst into laughter
Regardless of the fact that we lived in a huge house there was only four us sometimes five if Ana chooses to stay with us but other than that it's just Nana, Luca, Zayn and myself and I couldn't be less happy about it
I walked into the company's ten minutes late and my assistant- Antonio handed me some documents by investors as I walked towards the meeting room
"Tonio, why is Mr. Finn making delays in the investments and trying to stake a place in the board?" He looked taken aback by my noticed and swallowed gently
"I'll deal with him." I gave out a small smirk before he left
Finn was a good member growing to an enemy. I hate when people try to manipulate my workers and make them fall out for no good reason. Heaven knows I was going to kill him if I lay eyes on him and alas when the door swung open he was standing in all his glory.
"What are you doing here?" An emotion I couldn't identity traveled between his eyes then he
“The presentation process is being taken care of by him?” Gareth mention as my eyes was still fixed on Mr. Finn
“Apart from messing with my assistant based on investments. Mr. Finn, you have brought my company a great deal of trouble over the past three months and I found out you worked for Mr. Lucifer, am I correct?” I watched him go pale but he dropped the booklet in his arms
“Women are not built for running an oil company and…”
“Get the hell out of my office” I didn’t wait for him to finish his sentence as it did nothing but irritate me “security!” I tapped the button against the table and the door flew open seconds after that
“You are nothing but a weak and useless…” his words were cut off when the door was shut and I let out a sigh
The last few years have been struggles to get to where I am today and I have weak men nagging about how a woman shouldn’t be leading the oil market. This isn’t the first or second and I have no intention of coming from my seat for anyone
