Welcome to Fanfic's Hall of Fame, morfusmax1!!!

morfusmax1: A story paints a picture in one's head, but that picture tends to be a little different for each person. Sometimes that picture is a lot bigger than the original story. Fanfic is a way of trying to convey that picture.

morfusmax1: Sort of after the fact. From playing FFXIV I got a story in my head that I felt I had to express somehow, somewhere. Only once I started looking for a platform did I find so many others wanting to do the same.

morfusmax1: I haven't actually interacted with other fanfic writers in Wattpad. I've interacted with more via Tumblr and Discord.

morfusmax1: It's good to have for times when I have doubts about myself. "At least I can do this. And I think I can do it well."

morfusmax1: The satisfaction of expressing an idea. Some pieces I'm more proud of than others, but for most of them I get a small thrill when I can tell myself, "This piece is complete."

morfusmax1: That depends on the position taken by owners of the intellectual property the fanfic is based on. From what I've seen they tend to not play favorites and acknowledge any of it to avoid legal issues, but as long as they're open to it happening at all it's fine.

Unsure about my place in FFXIV fandom. I seem to be writing a story that's unlike almost everything else out there. Largely, FFXIV fanfic seems to be about unexplored relationships between characters, while mine is about the relationship between my characters and the world. Maybe people want relationship-based fanfic, but mine is the story I feel compelled to write. I guess we'll see.

morfusmax1: Biggest supporter inside Wattpad is ACSutliff, who has provided valuable feedback and perspective. Her works aren't fanfic, so she supplies me with a publishing-world perspective as well.
