Welcome to Fanfic's Hall of Fame, 0809AriAri!!!

0809AriAri: I'm beginning my journey into the world of fictional writing, having been a non fiction writer for 15 years. It's a huge leap, fiction is quite harder to write and fanfiction helps me providing a complete story to start from.

0809AriAri: I actually wrote my first fanfiction before even having a computer! After reading the first 3 books in the Harry Potter series, in the late '90ies, I couldn't wait for the fourth to be published, so I started writing my own postcanon future fic in a paper notebook!

0809AriAri: I remember stumbling upon Wattpad because someone uploaded a Spanish translation of "Mercury and Me" that was removed when the original book was finally republished. I don't remember who this person was and unfortunately I don't think they're still here, since the Queen fandom is slowly moving to AO3, but I don't lose hope.

0809AriAri: To write a fanfiction is to delve into a secondary world - as Tolkien would say -, and this helps a lot when you're tired or sad or angry or simply need to forget about the world around you for a while. And when you're forced to come back to it, it helps that you have had a chance to breathe some fresh air for a while!

0809AriAri: That it helps boost my self confidence! When I started, I was a lot more doubtful about my ability to actually create a story, with a sensible plot and believable characters. I decided to start from a fan fiction because I had some characters ready-to-use. I later realized that I need plenty of OCs for my story, but of course I've started writing by then and I didn't want to give up the story, and that gave me the courage to create them from scratch.

0809AriAri: Personally, my goal is to slowly detach from fan fiction, since I aim to create my own stories. Nevertheless, I don't know when, or even if, I'll ever have original ideas that could be strong enough and, regardless of that, I will never forget where I come from and will ever be grateful.
