The night was calm and pitch-black... perfect for the escape.

Mirai handed me the backpack with all the necessary things, including a lot of cash.

In the last few months, I have saved up all the money I earned as an underground hero in cash. As a civilian, it wouldn't be wise to travel with that much cash, but since I've been trained as a hero my whole life, it shouldn't be a problem for me.

Mirai and I left the hotel through the garden and went to the nearby cemetery. In a bad horror movie, this would be the part where the murderer would wait in the darkness for his chance to attack and murder two young women, but luckily this isn't a horror movie... at least not yet...

The cemetery was huge and it was really deathly quiet... only the occasional crow made a sound. We went to the ancient mausoleum of the ancient family of our clan, the "Kage" family.

We stopped in awe in front of it...

"Well... from here on, we part ways... according to the records, you can get directly to the next city via the catacombs of the family tomb without triggering the barrier of the elder alarm. As soon as you're out of the catacombs, you have to use your Quirk to move as far away as possible and then, as soon as morning comes, you buy a train ticket. Avoid cameras and always wear this hoodie." Mirai handed me an all-black hoodie that was oversized and thus also hid my figure well.

I pulled Mirai into a tight hug. "Thank you! Thank you for everything! One day... hopefully we'll see each other again!" I cried on her chest, Mirai lovingly stroked my back. She gave me a kiss on the cheek and pointed in the direction of the mausoleum. We, and especially I, had no time to lose.

Mirai quickly lifted the gravestone with her Quirk Telekinesis and I slipped into it and entered the catacombs, without hesitation Mirai closed the grave behind me...

*Ok...so it was an interesting hike through the catacombs...*

Let's put it this way, luckily I was able to travel through the catacombs very quickly thanks to my quirk and was also relatively quickly through the shadows in the next city. I was even an hour faster than we had calculated. My home and the mountain were far behind me, but I was just as exhausted. My Quirk Shadow Master is a special kind of Quirk. I can become completely one with the shadows and also use them as a weapon. I can also create shadow creatures that serve as an additional weapon or defense. Which is where my hero name Noctem comes from. But when I travel extremely long distances at night like I am doing now, it takes a lot of strength, especially since I have made the concealment so extreme that really no one can notice or track me. But now I was able to breathe a sigh of relief and make my way to the nearest train station to complete the rest of my journey by train.

My destination was the City of Heroes, where the U.A. High School was and also the agencies of the Strongest Heroes. I still have to think about an exact plan for how I can join an agency without the elders of my village being able to influence anything, or with a bit of luck even so that I can't be recognized.

*I wonder how everything will turn out today... Zero, who will be left at the altar... Mirai... who will now have to spend time in this golden cage without me... Damn it... the thought of it hurts... but that life would have destroyed me.*

I bought breakfast and something to drink for the onward train journey at a bakery.

I leaned back in my seat and fell asleep. A few hours later, a voice boomed over the loudspeaker.

"Dear passengers, the next stop is Musutafu Central Station. The exit is on the right-hand side. We wish you a pleasant stay or a safe onward journey with connecting trains."

Time passed faster than I thought... tired and stiff, I got up from my seat and made my way to the exits. I checked again that I hadn't forgotten anything. Since I no longer had a smartphone, as I had to leave it behind when I fled because MIrai and I were not sure how I could be found with it.

The train stopped and I got off with relaxed steps. It was just 10 o'clock in the morning. I guess in 2 hours at the latest, the first ones will notice my absence... at 12:30 the stylist should arrive and the wedding dress should arrive too.

I quickly shook these thoughts off and left the main train station. Just as I was walking down the stairs from the station, I felt a piercing gaze... my instinct screamed that I should hide in the shadows right away, but that would attract attention. I had to get used to walking around here like a normal civilian. No hero costume or the familiarity of my hometown.

I looked carefully and carefree in the direction where I interpreted the look and there I saw my observers... great, more than one..
