The couple get into the car and drive off to town. "Two weeks at home. The perfect vacation", said Adam. "Jane says we should sell the house to a family", said Barbara. "Well, I don't think that it's any of Jane's business. Besides, you could try again on this vacation", said Adam. "Really? What are you saying?" asked Barbara. They drive across the bridge and into town and a dog crosses the street "How ya doin', Ernie?" greeted Adam to Ernie, a town's painter. "Hi. How are ya?" Ernie greeted back to Adam. As they stop at the Maitland's Hardware Store, Adam greeted Old Bill, a town's barber hair cutters.

"Mornin', Adam. Need a haircut for your vacation?" asked Old Bill. "No, thanks, Bill", said Adam. "How's the model comin'?" asked Old Bill. When Adam goes inside to get some things at the hardware store as Old Bill said to himself, "You know, you said that Bozman built that foundation in 1835... but his - his grandson came in last week and said he found a bottle with a stamp from 1836 buried in the foundation. He got hair right down to his goddamn shoulders. He says to me, 'Just-Just trim it a little." As he finished talking to himself, Adam came out from the hardware store until he address him, "See you later, huh Bill?"

Adam gets back in the car and they drive off. The dog from earlier is heading near the bridge. "This is gonna be great", said Barbara. "Are you sure you wouldn't rather go to Jamaica or some place like that?" asked Adam. "No way. There's no place like..." answered Barbara until Adam calls out to her. "Hey, look out for that..." They swerve out of the way and hit the side of the bridge and crash through it. They're hanging above the river. The dog is standing on the plank of wood that their station wagon just so happens to be balancing on. The dog jumps off the plank and the car plummets into the water.

Next, they are seen walking into the house from the POV of the viewer in the living room. "A perfect start to our vacation", said Barbara. "Oh, you'll feel better when you're dry, honey", said Adam. They see that the fireplace is now lit up. "That fire wasn't burning when we left", said Barbara. "How's your arm?" asked Adam. "I don't know. It feels frozen", answered Barbara. They warm their hands on the fire, but Barbara's fingertips catch on fire. She blows them out. "I'll make some coffee. You get some wood for the fireplace", said Barbara. "Maybe we should take things extra slow. Do you remember how we got back up here? I'm gonna go back down to the bridge and retrace our steps", said Adam.

He runs down the steps, only to appear in a strange world. A monster was about to attack him, but Barbara has to save him from the monster by pulling him back to the house. "Oh, you saved my...", said Adam. "Two hours!" exclaimed Barbara. "You won't believe... What?", enquired Adam. "That's how long you were gone", said Barbara. "What is going on?", asked Adam. "I have to show you something. Look", said Barbara.
