I cautiously wrap the stick with toilet paper and stuff it into my pocket. I can't believe this is happening, and I can't believe everything will change now. Argh, what to do, what to do?
"Babe you okay in there?" Edwin shouts from outside.
I gulp, "Yeah, yeah I'm fine."
"The hell you're not, open up this door now." He grunts.
"Just give me a minute."
"I'll break down the door!" He warns.
I sigh and unlock the door; he shoves it open immediately. His eyes drop to the bulge in my hoodie pocket.
"Give it."
"Edwin-"
His eyes soften, "Baby I can't help you if you keep things from me. Give me whatever it is that's in your pocket."
I pinch my eyes shut while I hand him the toilet paper wrapped pregnancy test. A minute later I feel warm hands wrapped around my waist and lips on my forehead.
"I love you so much." Edwin's voice is full of affection.
"You're not upset?"
"Why the hell would I be? You're giving me a baby. We're starting a family. I'm thrilled." He gazes into my now open eyes with happiness. "It's a different thing if you're upset though."
"I, so much has happened in the last two years. We're still yet to get used to it all, the kingdoms, ruling, family, everything. Do you think we're ready?" I finally voice my concern out loud.
"We're ready whenever you're ready. But I think this is a great blessing. An heir is one of the best things a King and Queen can have."
"Aren't you scared?" I quiz.
"I'll probably be scared once the baby is born, but for now I'm very happy. A little Edores, or little me, it sounds amazing."
"What about..." I trail off, not wanting to bring up the bitter memories.
"Edores it'll be fine. We won't turn out like our parents; we won't turn out like those power-crazy people. And we definitely will put our baby's needs above our own. I promise, it will all be okay. And the baby will have so many loving aunts and uncles, if we ever need help our friends are there. So...how do you feel now?"
I release a breath, "Okay. Okay we'll do it. We'll go through with it."
I watch Edwin's smile turn into a wide beam and he pulls me into an even tighter hug than before. "Yes! Yes! I'm going to be a father! Thank you Edores, thank you Baby!"
I laugh, "Relax."
"God no, this is time for celebration! First let's go see a doctor to see how far along you are, and then we can party!" He whoops and picks me up, spinning me around.
"Wow I am absolutely terrified." I mutter.
"Don't worry, I'm here, always. I'll be excited enough for both of us. I love you." Edwin kisses my forehead.
"I love you too."
