The arena vibrated with energy, the crowd's cheers rising to deafening levels as Stray Kids performed their latest hit. Bright lights strobed across the massive space, illuminating fans waving banners and lightsticks. On stage, the group moved in perfect synchronization, their charisma commanding every ounce of attention in the room.
Except for one person.
Mannon leaned casually against the railing of the VIP section, her arms folded as her piercing blue eyes scanned the stage. She wasn’t screaming or dancing along to the beat like the fans below. She didn’t have to.
Her focus was on her brother—Bang Chan. Or, as she called him, Channie.
“Come to the concert,” he’d said earlier that week over FaceTime. “It’s been forever since we hung out properly.”
Mannon had rolled her eyes but smiled anyway. “Fine, but only because it’s you.”
Now, watching him command the stage, Mannon couldn’t deny how proud she was. Her lips curved into the faintest smile as he led the group into another flawless transition. Despite her usual calm, there was no denying that her brother was incredible at what he did.
But her own ambitions weighed heavy on her mind. Mannon didn’t just want to watch from the sidelines; she wanted to be on a stage like this, performing for people who truly appreciated her voice. Unfortunately, the industry seemed determined to see her only as a face for fashion—her striking blue eyes and curvy frame more of a focus than the talent she knew she had.
Her thoughts were interrupted when Hyunjin stepped forward for his solo.
---
Hyunjin loved the rush of performing. The spotlight felt like home, the crowd’s energy fueling every move. But tonight, something was off.
As he danced, his gaze wandered briefly to the VIP section, where someone stood out like a beacon.
She wasn’t like the other fans. Her calm, composed demeanor drew his attention immediately. Her bronze skin seemed to glow under the lights, her coily brown curls framing a striking face with piercing blue eyes that seemed to cut through the chaos of the concert.
Hyunjin’s next step faltered—just slightly—but he caught himself before anyone noticed. His heart pounded, though he wasn’t sure why.
Focus, he told himself, forcing his attention back to the routine. But even as the song ended and the stage lights dimmed, he couldn’t shake the image of her from his mind.
---
Backstage, Mannon leaned against the wall near the dressing room, scrolling through her phone. The post-concert chaos buzzed around her—staff rushing to and fro, the faint echo of fans chanting outside—but she remained unfazed.
“Mannon!”
She looked up to see Bang Chan jogging toward her, his face still glistening with sweat and lit up with a wide grin.
“You made it!” he exclaimed, pulling her into a hug.
“Of course I did, Channie,” she said, her voice tinged with teasing. “You’d have cried if I didn’t.”
Chan chuckled, ruffling her curls. “Probably.”
Before she could reply, he grabbed her wrist. “Come on, I want you to meet the guys.”
“Do I have to?” she asked, already knowing the answer.
“Yes, you do.”
---
The dressing room was a whirlwind of energy, the members’ post-performance buzz filling the space with laughter and chatter. But when Chan walked in with Mannon at his side, the room went quiet.
“This,” Chan announced with pride, “is my sister, Mannon.”
Everyone stared, their expressions ranging from curiosity to outright confusion.
“You have another sister?” Han finally asked, breaking the silence.
“Yes, I have another sister other than Hannah,” Chan said firmly, his tone light but final. “Don’t look so surprised.”
Hyunjin blinked, his gaze flicking between Chan and Mannon. They didn’t look anything alike. In fact, they couldn’t look more different.
Mannon noticed the stares but said nothing, her posture relaxed and her expression unreadable.
“Hi,” she said simply, her voice smooth and confident.
Hyunjin’s heart stuttered again. Up close, she was even more striking.
Felix was the first to recover, stepping forward with a friendly grin. “Hi, Mannon. I’m Felix. It’s nice to meet you!”
The others followed suit, introducing themselves one by one. When it was Hyunjin’s turn, he hesitated.
“I’m Hyunjin,” he said finally, his voice softer than usual.
Mannon met his gaze briefly, her blue eyes cool and detached. “Nice to meet you.”
And just like that, her attention shifted back to Chan, leaving Hyunjin standing there, feeling strangely off-balance.
---
As the group settled back into their post-show routines, Hyunjin couldn’t stop stealing glances at Mannon. She stayed close to Chan, occasionally teasing him or scrolling through her phone, but she seemed distant from everything else.
“Are you good?” Felix asked, nudging Hyunjin with a grin.
Hyunjin blinked. “What?”
“You keep staring,” Felix said, his voice low enough that no one else could hear. “You’re not subtle.”
Hyunjin frowned. “I’m just… curious.”
Felix smirked. “Sure you are.”
But Hyunjin wasn’t so sure himself. He didn’t know what to make of Mannon—her beauty, her composure, her connection to Chan—but one thing was certain: she was already taking up more space in his mind than he’d expected.
And for the first time that night, Hyunjin wondered if it was more than just curiosity.
