Chimneys

23 5 10

Smoke drifted off
Of the brick
Chimney,

Joining the rest
In the city,
Cozy and warm,

Fire gleaming
and
Snapping

Flames licking the stones,
Heating and
Saving some

Cats purring
And lying
Warm by the hearth

Children getting too
Close, life lessons
Well learned

Dads stacking
Pine logs up
High

Moms cooking
Soup and baking
Pies

Sweet smoke
Floating across
The crisp air

Filling the city
With warmth and
Happiness

(I know the moms and dads part might not apply to everyone, but it does for me, and my poetry is written for me and you are the audience. So just fill in that part with whatever you want whether it's mama stacks the logs and mom cooks, or mom stacks the logs and dad cooks.  I don't care. Thanks for reading:)
