Chimneys

Smoke drifting off
Dull but warm
Slipping away into the city,

Rejoicing the comfort,
Safe and sound.
Logs burning and crackling,

Fire gleaming
and
Snapping

Flames licking the stones,
Children laughing,
And giggling.

Cats purring
And lying
Warm by the hearth

Brick by brick,
Incasing the smoke,
Chimneys

Sweet smoke
Floating across
The crisp air

Filling the city
With warmth and
Happiness
