My veins burned with rage as I watched the scene unfold before me. I clenched my fist inside the pocket of my pants, my jaw tightening as I spoke through gritted teeth.
"I think she's steady now. There's no need to hold her for this long," I said, my voice barely concealing the fury bubbling within me, as I glared at my best friend. At that moment, I could think of a thousand reasons to plan his murder.
Lakshay, my best friend, was someone I'd met in the early days of my business. His father, a tycoon in the hotel industry, had helped me establish connections that I wouldn't have otherwise gotten. He believed I had the potential to spark a revolution. Ever since, we'd been inseparable. Our bond was unshakable. Despite many rivals plotting to break us apart, we'd always stuck together like shadows. He knew everything about my past, having witnessed the tears I shed on the day I received an award, thinking she would return-only for her not to. It was on that day that I confided in him about Ahana.
But now, watching him hold her like that, all my emotions were being drowned in a wave of anger. I knew he didn't know this was the same Ahana, but that didn't matter. He couldn't touch her, not like this.
Ahana stood up, her posture straightening as she smiled at Lakshay.
"Thank you, and I'm so sorry. It was my mistake. I should've been more careful," she said, her smile radiating warmth.
I knew I loved her smile, but at that moment, it only fueled the fire in me. She hadn't even looked at me properly yesterday, let alone spoken to me. Yet here she was, smiling at this idiot, and Lakshay-oblivious to everything-was already throwing his charm at her.
I couldn't let this go on.
"Lakshay, meet Ahana-Ms. Ahana Roy, our wedding planner," I said, emphasizing her name, hoping that my words would make him realize the situation. Thank God, he did.
"Oh, so she's the wedding planner. Ahana," he repeated, once again emphasizing her name.
Ahana frowned, clearly uncomfortable with the attention, but then her phone rang, diverting her focus.
"Just a minute, this is important," she said, stepping away to take the call.
"Mujhe nahi lagta, itni nazuk ladki kisi ka dil tod sakti hai." Lakshay said, leaning closer to me, his voice dripping with mockery.
"Jis din apne shabdon mein baadh chhodegi, tab bolna ye mujhse. Nazuk, my foot." I shot him a mocking look, my patience wearing thin.
"Lagta hai pehle se koi jakhmi baitha hai." He continued, his words laced with a smirk that made me want to snap.
"Aur agar tu chup nhi hua to mai tujhe aisa jakhmi karunga ki uncle ko apna khaandaan badhane ke liye doosra beta adopt karna padega." I said passing him a glare.
